My grandfather's old hunting knife. Hearing stories of some questionable deer and moose hunting "activity " back in the 50's, I imagine this has seen a lot of use. :D

I've never used it and it's still razor sharp.

Have a great time, sounds perfect to me!

Where I stay in the tip of the Mn. Arrowhead I keep pushing out and exploring new areas. One day did a 150 mile round trip into the area on the Canadian Border and the border of the Indian Rez. Seen a small clearing where someone had cut trees back off the "main" road so stopped and took a look.

Path went into the woods so took the dog for a walk, flushed 2 grouse on the way in and of course didn't take the gun with me. It was a small float plane.

Talked to the lodge owner at the cabin where I stay he is 84 and was cutting and stacking wood for the sauna when I got back. He said he remembered it well when it down in 71 his cousin was the Cook County Sheriff at the time and they even brought up the Civil Air Patrol from Texas to search for them. They found the plane in 83 when a logging road was being cut which eventually became the County road that I was on. Bit of a sobering experience for me.

I had an almost identical Case in the 70's but without the basket weave sheath it was smooth leather and lost it in the woods in Washington State years ago somehow. Case knives and Zippo lighters made in Bradford Pa. about all that is there. Still like Case and my everyday carry is a custom ordered Case from a group buy

Would have preferred carbon steel but everyone else wanted stainless steel so that is what I ended up with. It does have its advantages over carbon but it isn't the same to me.

Wow, 12 years to find it. I wonder if they were able to recover any remains? I'm guessing nature probably did what nature does though and the answer is no.

When I worked AFRCC, we lost planes in snowy mtn passes all the time ... would find some of them after Spring thaw; several after many Spring thaws. Spotting shtuff from the air is much more challenging than most folk realize.

how-dee. pretty quiet around these parts. Been busy working myself.

These are the moments that matter most. Sounds sublime.

I'm currently on my 2nd Brittany. First was a gunshy rescue. This one...absolutely fearless, and smart. Upland bird hunting with her would be amazing I'd expect. I've never had the opportunity to learn or obtain the equipment. She makes me want to. There's a youtuber in Northern Maine that films his quail and wookcock hunts. Can't imagine much rivaling a day like that...assuming dinners ready at trails end. LOL.

    Enjoy!
