We need a Cursing Poll…

 

For the longest time I really tried hard to find an after-work sport that was enjoyable. I tried volleyball, indoor soccer, various beer leagues, basketball, a couple of cycling clubs.

Flashback.
... In college I raced mountain bikes. When we raced, we were animals. We fucking raced. But when we were on training rides, it was the nicest, most inclusive group ever. We had a rule. Ride at your own pace, but stop every few miles, let everyone catch up, regroup, chitchat, nobody gets dropped, everyone gets thanked for gracing us with their presence...

As adults, every single sport had to have a Monica. Someone who wasnt there to have fun or socialize, they were there to dominate. You could always spot the Monica. Now didn't get me wrong, I love to compete. But I want to be able to crack jokes and be friendly against my opponents while competing. I want the understanding that nobody is giving 110% because we have dinner to cook tonight and work to do in the morning. But not the Monica. The Monica is willing to pull a shoulder and tear a knee for the right to declare booyah, and forever remind everyone who is king. And they make it not fun. They demand to finish the last play when everyone else votes for bar-thirty. They don't watch body language when trash talking. They don't understand why the league has high turnover.

Even the noncompetitive gets weird. Take up scuba diving, and every single group is going to have that one ass that has to tell you they scuba harder than you.

I'd like to get into social sports again. But then I remember how much I hate people.

Now the true processes come to forefront
Why start over when everyplace has its own thing and everything in its place? Build a new shed and fill up the new one.
