steering wheel shakes on highway, only for first 10 minutes of my drive.

I'm scratching my head over this. When I turn the truck on and start driving, the steering wheel will shake at about 55-75 mph for the first 10 minutes or so my drive. Logic would tell me that it's a wheel balance issue, but there is no snow or mud build up (it's 90 and it hasn't been off-road in a year) loose studs? They wouldn't tighten themselves up in 10 minutes.

Honestly puzzled. Is there anything that would make the steering wheel shake until it "heats up"?

My guess is your tires. I had wildpeaks that would give me vibes for a few minutes until they warmed up. See if you can swap wheels with someone to eliminate that as a possibility.

Maybe have someone drive near you to see if any tires are hopping?

My guess would also be tires that have flat spots from sitting.

Tires get to turning, PSI rises and no more vibrating because they are round like they should be.

Just my 2 cents though, I’m no expert.

My wildpeaks and Nitto ridge grapplers did this, especially after they had some milage on them. Wildpeaks were on my 2nd gen, and ridge grapplers on my 3rd gen.

If this only happens on a particular road consider the possibility that it's the road surface itself. There are a few highways here in PA that I travel fairly often and on some of them there are sections in the right lane that make it fell like I have a tire going flat. The road surface looks okay to the naked eye but if I switch lane from the right lane and move into the left lane it goes away.

Beyond that flat spotting of your tires from sitting is a real issue. My truck sits more than it's driven so I deal with this issue all the time.

Would flat spots be something I could expect between the time I go into work, and the time I get out? The issue is on my morning and evening commute.

Most likely. If it goes away after a few miles of driving, I wouldn't lose any sleep over this.

You don't happen to have tire balancing beads in there? Or some non-Newtonian balancing fluid? tire slime?

    really soft tires?

fking mud wasps made nests in my wheels a few times and it did exactly as you have described. out of balance until flung off at higher speeds. if the little fkers get clay soil, their nests are like cement.

I have actually used the brand "ride-on" and it does exactly what they advertise, however it will settle and be unbalanced for a few minutes. (if the truck sat for a few days)

It's your tires before they have had their first cup of coffee. Maybe rotate your tires front to back and see if that changes anything.

Tires heat up as can be seen by the rise in air pressure on your dash display.

I had this on a past car of mine and it would piss me off daily.

No fix, could not ever make it to the tire shop for them to check it out because they were 5 miles away and the vibrations would only last 1-3 miles. Worse when it was colder. They didn't offer rental cars and I didn't have a second vehicle at the time so I could never get it fixed. I eventually had all the tires warrantied out for another issue and the problem went away.

Tires were high end Continental's at the time in 18".

It’s just a characteristic of some A/T tires. My AT4W’s did it really bad until I finally got a tech at Discount that knew his stuff. We finally figured out that the road force on one of my tires was much higher than the rest of them. Not that I put faith on road force solving all tires vibes issues but it definitely helped us get to the root of the issue and they ordered a new tire. The road force on the “bad” tires was only 19 lbs but the new one was 8 lbs and made all tires from 8-12 lbs of road force. Just my two cents.

I think it’s more common lately with the newer tire compounds. The bigger the tire, the worse it can get

Maybe you can air up to 35psi see if that helps.

My stock sized Wildpeaks have no issue.
I do concur that tire pressure will rise/fall with temps -
We dropped to a freezing 72 degrees for the low the other day and my tires went from 35 to 29....

my truck came to me with a set of the bfgoodrich all terrain t/a tires. far to aggressive for me, but they had plenty of tread.

i've got a similar situation with steering wheel vibration from them. i've noticed it from the first week, but figure it's mostly the rubber compound. it never gets worse the longer the truck sits, but will usually have a small amount of steering wheel wobble the first bit of most drives. not any worse than a ton of aftermarket wheels...

my brz runs bfgoodrich comp2 a/s plus tires, and also sometimes sits for up to a month. that being an ultra-high performance all season, it runs a very sticky/soft compound, and if i let the car sit for more than a week, it will flat spot hard enough that the first 2 miles will have me nearly convinced that i've got a wheel falling off, until they develop some heat and round back out.
