I will say the ride quality feels drastically different between the driver and passenger seats.

Just knowing that the 4th Gen isn't feeling very well makes me want to stay away until it feels better.

I'd love to see a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen all side by side to compare lines. I still liked the 2nd over the 3rd but the 4th looks different enough to be interesting.I would have liked to have see redesigned wheel arches that were more rounded and able to accommodate larger tire sizes without a lift. And I SERIOUSLY don't like all the nanny crap and spying, it's insidious and disgusting.

the wheel arches on the 4th, although not rounded, are much bigger and will accommodate a 285/70/17 without a lift. It can handle that tire fully stuffed while wheeling. I've not seen a 2nd gen (which I currently own) or a 3rd gen handle that tire size without trimming, banging the pinch weld flat or a cab mount chop.

Yeah, the spying. The phone I carry around everywhere is nearly useless unless I let it spy on me.

I enjoy my 4th for the list of positives the OP stated. Swapping between the 4th gen and my 2nd gen makes me appreciate how great of a truck a well cared for and maintained 2nd gen is. I hope the 4th gen lives up to the 2nd gen.

I also left my 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road at the dealership and now have a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road. Honestly, I was a bit uncertain about switching from a V6 to a 4-cylinder turbo at first.

I’ve only driven it about 500 miles, mostly in the city, and just a couple of times on the highway. The miles per gallon are definitely lower than my 2019, but I’m surprised by the engine's performance. I live in a mountainous area in northern Oregon, with lots of hills, and that 4-cylinder has impressed me, especially when overtaking on inclines!

I’m a bit tall, and I feel much more comfortable in the seat of the 2024 compared to the 2019. The downside is that the back seat feels a bit tighter with the kids' car seats.

IMO, this is the deal breaker, at least for me. I had a 2009 Tacoma Sport with 21 gallon tank that I could push to 400 miles range on road trips. That was acceptable. I currently have a 2023 Tundra that I can take to 600 miles range on road trips. I would LOVE to downsize from the Tundra back to a 4th gen Tacoma and I mostly like everything else, except that stupid removeable center speaker. But the ridiculously small fuel tank is the deal breaker. Crazy to have range anxiety in an ICE vehicle. LOL. These things need to have ~25 gal tanks.

this is my biggest concern as well, but i am full steam ahead. guess i'll just have to get used to it if my range drops.

More than I need but still not enough.
Just refilled after 275 miles, truck took 13 gallons so the range really isn't as bad as the truck would make you think.

Same with Tundra. The RTE mileage countdown reaches zero and the fuel light comes on with 6 gallons remaining out of the 32. In my case that is about another 120 road miles, although I never really take it down to less than about 4 gallons or so.

I'd settle for 21 or 22, actually. But 25 would be nice.

Not sure everyone's opinion on electric but the Scout premiered yesterday. 350 mile range with the optional 150 mile + additional ICE generator range extender. States it will start at $60,000 which comes in around price points of loaded I-Force Max trucks or a couple grand less than the TRD Pro. BOF, Front & rear lockers, sounds interesting.

Pretty cool... I like a lot of EV offerings but that doesn't guarantee that there will be a charger where and when you need it on a road trip. These rage extender engines will work, but the extra cost and maintenance... IDK.

a little off topic, but where I live, the roads are completely awful. Our roads here kill the fk out of tires, wheels and suspension very quickly.

first thing i noticed is that the E rated and 10ply tires hold up to the abuse of me holding the speed limit and staying in my own lane. I take the road obstacle on, without disrupting the flow of traffic or causing a wreck to avoid a piece of lumber, alligator, turtle, you name it. Yep, I have seen a car swerve right into a semi, to avoid a nutria... and the lighter weight tires just couldn't handle much of that.

I was getting flats all the time and i can tell you that the E rated tires hold a plug without leaking. i only get a flat once or twice a year now. When i had lighter tires (that this truck was made for), I was getting flats every other week. A few years ago, i had maybe ten plugs in one tire and the tire failed after only 10K miles.

E rated tires are not a comfortable ride and they suck fuel, but in my case they save me a lot of time, money and anger.
