    Good morning all.

My sister is having a heart procedure (second time having an aorta aneurysm) on Monday October 28th. Our parents are both passed on, so I'm flying to Los Angeles tomorrow to be with her, take her to / from the hospital, and stay with her for the following several days until she's able to get up and around ok on her own. She went through the exact same thing about 4 - 5 years ago, this is a new aneurysm that had formed just above the last one. Hoping this will be the last time she needs to deal with this crap. I am happy to go, and since I am still not working, I have the time, but I hate Los Angeles (and any other city) :argue::puke:

morning boys and girls. almost forgot my moron report for the week - its a doozy....

    little back story first.
i have something i call my "101 rule". we can do something at work 100 times and everyone does it right, finished product flawless. then we get to 101 and everyone suddenly forgets everything and freaks out about why did i change this or that and why cant i keep things consistent. then i kindly remind them and show them that we have in fact done this before and i haven't changed anything.
we have periodic meetings to discuss projects and what goes well or doesn't, what can we change to make things better in the future, etc.

so about a year ago the guys brought up an issue at one of those meetings and were upset about why do i always do this certain detail because they cant figure it out and the finished product is shit. news to me and also this is only way i've ever done this detail. but hey, 101 rule! they request that i stop and do something else instead. OK, I'll try but there may need to be an exception once in a while for various reasons. made sure to emphasize the point many times in the meeting. everyone said they understood.
i start doing things the way they requested but a few months on a need to make an exception and go back to the old way. one time. first time in months.
everyone loses their shit and i get three emails about "why can't you follow directions" "why do you ALWAYS do this the wrong way" yada, yada.
i kindly remind them that i had explained from the beginning that there may need to be an exception once in a while and this was the first in months.
few more months and another exception, more emails.
a few more months, install tells me that they think the old way will be better for them on site and could i change the drawings. only if you explain to everyone else that this is on you and not on me so they dont lose their shit with me again.
well they didnt have my back and i get more emails.
then earlier this week i get an email from one of the guys who had flipped out on the previous occasions. he was asking me to change a project and go back to the old way of doing things as it would be better for them this time.
    o_O
NO! abso-fucking-lutely not. i will not change the drawings. i will not change them at your request because you have previously made it very clear that that detail is not acceptible under any circumstances.
boss gets involved and i show him the previous emails i've gotten outright insulting me over this issue. i tell him no way in hell am i changing the detail. it cant be OK when they deem it OK and be the end of the world when i think its necessary. for once the boss had my back and told them that they've got to deal with it as is.
small victory but still a victory.

    Morning all,
So the follow up to the wheel bearings. The shop fixed it on Wednesday and said the bolts holding the Bearing to the axle plate were finger tight!! I know they were tightened and they had the factory red locktite coating on them. I talked to the guy (Chad) I bought them from. Said he hadn't seen that before and that using a small amount of red locktite would be ok. I checked the left side as I replaced them both at the same time and they were not tight but not falling off either. Tomorrow supposed to be in the 50s and sunny so will be pulling the left side, putting locktite on and retorquing. Chad agreed on saving the bearing and adding ARP studs when its time to replace one.

Actually my Friday. Supposed to be elk hunting the next 2 weeks but my buddy had to back out so doing the staycation and hunting from home and getting fall house projects done and taking a much needed mental break. Damn CWD just showed up in our local wild deer. Been as close as 50 miles so it was only a matter of time. Ugh.

Y'all stay safe out there this weekend!

    Morning all

Yeah, I learned the same lesson
    20241025_081912.jpg

I live about 8 miles north of LA, grew up in LA and worked there for 40 years. I am not a fan. My stress level has dropped, BP has gone below normal and I hate driving in the city. But the friends, hospitals, entertainment and food are worth it to me to stick around.
    I hope she is ok

    Happy Friday everyone!

I had a pleasant surprise this morning. I got an email from my CU saying that my deposit has cleared... I'm asking meself- what deposit are they talking about?? Apparently I was approved for some unenjoyment from PA, so that helps to take off a bit of pressure. I needed that break.

@MTgirl - congrats on winning the fight!

I got an update that only a few hours after his gorge fest- he wanted his dinner and was mad when he didn't get his MidRats.

I saw a 4 month old kitty on MP today- a little orange devil. I'm soooo tempted to have my own little buddy.

It's an interesting back story on how VW ended up with the rights to the Scout name. I wonder if VW will design the vehicle with all of the quirky VW type of hardware.

Same food too! This is a new food recommenced by the vet, he is still loosing a tiny bit of weight even with an increase in his portions. ( still waaay less then he was eating before he turned into a bowling pin). This food is supposed to have less calories per serving than his current kibble, so he can get fed more without putting the weight back on. That's the theory anyway.

I had posted my "new" mower on the mower thread, they started a poll to take a guess at what the non-start issue was going to be. I've never been the subject of a poll before, that was kinda interesting.

I got it running about an hour ago and cut the grass with it.. V-twin engine makes a big difference!

I’m sure Chebby is glad to be rid of all the dead weight but it is a sad day to get everything tucked away for winter.

camper is dumped, truck interior is cleaned out and vacuumed, stuff all stowed away in the garage for winter, i'm showered and just threw an apple pie in the oven. taking mom and dad out to dinner later and figured i could spring for dessert too. i think i've earned a bit of a rest now though - i'm pooped!
