    I second this.
I can get like 12-14 notches with a good portion of those being 45° notches out of a singular hole saw.

With a harbor freight tube notcher and a diablo hole saw

Lenox hole saws are hands down the best you can buy. When I have big runs of straight notches to do I can easily get 3-400 cuts per saw and I do not use any kind of lubricant. Low speed steady moderate pressure and you’re done. I have tried so many different saws over the years and Lenox is just in a different league. About 10$ a crack at Lowe’s.

for 90 deg cuts nothing beats one of those lenox carbides.

Built the last cage on a single saw. Only breaking out the grinder for multi tube nodes.

They also work incredibly well on plate. I have a drawer full of different size ones for doing dimples and things off that nature. Some of them I’ve had for probably 8 years. I’ve found they also have the least amount of runout as well. Yet one of the least expensive. Funny how that works sometimes.

Mag drill with annular cutters is a game changer for plate. Got a mage drill a couple months ago and love it. So fast so easy, and the holes are flawless. Even works great on 1/8" aluminum plate because the magnet is strong enough to hold it down to the welding table.

You mean one of these? I agree. However I still do a lot of hand made stuff.

    Yup.

Since getting it, i will not unless it requires a hell of a carboard aid.

And even then sometimes make an .035 piece a few rimes before a .120 or .188 piece, because lazy.

I still find heavy enjoyment out of building things by hand. But for things like building the swingset or SUA. Yeah it can’t be replaced. I’m not sure I’ll ever get into the full swing with tech. Unless it’s something I plan to produce.

Ive done a few sets of control arms now, and even not as a a production part, it shortens the fab process a ton if tou have a decent design.

In your neck of the woods with airport beers atm.

Oh absolutely shortens the timeline on things that are drawn out and ready! Believe it or not I mess with more muscle car stuff than anything. Most all of it is one off. So unless I can cardboard it, draw it up and cut it faster than I can by hand it’s all hand work.

What airport are you at? Passing through or here for a bit? Rolling out with another LT guy from Illinois tomorrow for a cruise.

    DTW. Just passing thru.

Might be up for a while for work in a few weeks.

Yeah I know a guy who works for FFR, they apparently do all 0V cad then digitize and tune for production.

Seems like a lot of y'all are in the greater LA/southern CA area, yes?

Anyone with a shop in that area?

I've started traveling to that part of the state a lot for work.
