the funniest part about this is when Sark begged his fans to stop throwing trash on the field, then he proceeded to put that trash O Line on the field.

 

Yea I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to be able to watch the video board and overturn your call - especially on a PI.
It wasn’t PI. It was a terrible call. But, it was called, yardage was marked off, and it was over

 

Calls get overturned quite often. Especially in recent years. Ref's are doing a better job of getting together and discussing what each of them saw to get it right. That's what happened last night. I'm a Georgia fan, but that was a bad call. But in real time, from field level and the angle the ref was looking at the play it's easy to see why he may have called PI. They got together and the rest of the crew seeing the play from different angles overruled the guy who threw the flag. Good on them for getting the call right. Wouldn't want to hear Texas complain about how that one missed call cost them the game

The fans throwing trash on the field probably had nothing to do with reversing the call. It just delayed the ref's getting together to discuss the call. The INT should have stood, BUT Texas should have gotten a 5 yard Delay of Game penalty for the trash on the field. Maybe even a 15-yard Unsportsman Conduct penalty.

Yes, that's a real thing. I've seen penalties in high school ball because of the band disrupting the game. Once for playing while the other team was on offense. One Delay of game penalty because the band was late getting off the field at half-time and delayed starting the 2nd half.

Not addressing the trash sends the wrong message. I'm betting the NCAA fines Texas for that. But it should have been addressed on the field.

 

Calls get overturned, yes. What can’t happen is that play can’t be reviewed. It was a bad call, yes. You can’t change that call after a 10 minute review.

 

Glad the fans found out that all it takes to overturn a bad call by the refs is to shower the field with cups and bottles.
