What? I literally threw all of that stuff in the trash when I put the fuel cell in. Zero problems. Already had the dash light on from the aux tank I had prior.

If the canisters plug up from being over filled it can vapor lock the tank. However it’s insanely uncommon. Tacoma shouldn’t be too susceptible to it though with the canister above tank level.

Yeah, plenty of cases of people way overfilling their tanks and causing that, but simply disconnecting pieces shouldn't have any effect other than the cel. I don't know how/if it varies on the 3.5L, but Jason has the 4.0 like me, so I'm surprised he had issues.

I would sit down before you price one out. They are usually ridiculous.

Find someone with a plastic welder or see if you can pick one up for yourself. You WILL find other uses for it.

Pretty sure I lost some nanny systems after ditching the EVAP stuff and doing a fuel cell. I think ABS, traction control etc is tied in and cuts off as a failsafe with a CEL from EVAP.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
VSC and ABS cutoff on toyotas with any critical CEL, it's dumb.

I’ve had a sporadic rough idle issues for years and a serious bog issue on cold start in the mornings for a while too. I read every imaginable thread about the symptoms and tried everything to no avail. Brought it to a shop after a bad misfire one morning and they could see the condition on their scanner but found no cause and no other codes. Then earlier this year my gas gauge stopped working and I ran out of gas and the truck threw 10 codes that would not go away. I fk’d with it a few times front to back from the throttle body to the gas pedal back to the fuel pump and everything was fine. I finally got sick of it and brought it to a friends shop and they discovered a few issues with the emissions shit replaced it all and the truck runs perfectly now and no BS it even picked up 2 mpg so you’ll have areal hard time convincing me that the emissions stuff doesn’t affect other systems

Sounds like a bad evap system is worse than no evap system

In my experience, charcoal canister issues with throw CEL and make VSC and other trac modes non-functional. But still drivable.
SAIS issues however will put the truck into limp mode and 25mph max speed.
Most all of it works when they work, but causes much more headache when they don’t. Also unreasonably expensive parts for shitty plastic bits and cheap air pumps that wouldn’t be on par to fill an air bed mattress. Thank you bureaucratic legislation.
My truck has cost me ~$1500 in emission BS this year just to fix those systems that broke so I can pass commiefornia smog.
I could’ve been half way to a nice 30 gal cell by now.
