I honestly don't remember what brand he stated, I'm leaning towards a Kohler. The Kohler labels are marvelously shitty. I would not be surprised if the label was not readable.

    Thank you!

It turned out to be a 22HP, it's a Kohler. I said the wrong number last night.

Just have to brag on an old shitty push mower that I’ve neglected since the day I bought it. The ol $150 special at Lowe’s 10 years ago. Probably changed the oil once, never touched the spark plugs or air filter. Left it at a tenants house for them to use till it dies for the past year. They never touched it. I got it from them this morning because I had to do a yard that Had a small gate that my current mower can’t fit through. She cranked first pull and ran like a top. Damn thing runs better than the things I actually keep maintained.

    Ok gang, here's the update.

    It runs.

Pretty well, actually. Hydro pump is a bit whiney but it runs. I've never owned ( or used) a v-twin lawn device before, it's pretty smooth and torquey. The driving compartment is cramped for me, I need to adapt some sort of slider mechanism for the seat and the steering radius is goofy- dame near does a zero turn pivot going to the left, going to the right has the turning radius of the BigBoy Challanger steam locomotive.

The culprit- it wasn't listed in the poll.

The chaffed/ burned hot lead from the starter solenoid to the starter kept going around in my head as well as the output side of the solenoid NOT getting hot after the exciter wire was sending 11.7 lightening bolts to it. I swapped out solenoids from the White mower, pushed the seat down with my hand and gave the key a twist. She belched right to life after just a few cranks!

I put gas in the tank, figured out the PTO clutch button and the height knob for the deck and went to cutting the lawn. 25 minutes I was done, I've reduced my cutting time in half and this thing has power to cut at a decent clip, definately faster than I could walk beside it.

I'm off to Tractor supply to get the "correct" solenoid for it so that I can put the White back together and make an ad on MP for it.

Thanks for all of the support with this!

So now that it runs, lets discuss the turning radius quirk. It is supposed to steer the way that it does? I see in the owners manual that they want you to make left hand turns to cut the grass. I don't want nascar steering I want road course steering! Do I just center the steering rack mid travel then adjust the drag link to make the tires point forward?

The maple seeds finally dropped during a wind event this afternoon so I got on the roof when I got home and sent them off.

Not concerned about the gutters but the roof getting crud living on it. It’s a major challenge keeping moss and algae off it. Gutters are fine.

Been on the CAT forklift for the past few days moving pallets of pipe and empty pallets. That CAT is so fast top speed 7 , reaching nose bleed territory.
The good news is finally able to demonstrate my lift skills :bananadance:.
Monday the entire crew has to be back at work or go on unemployment. Guess we'll see who shows.

Understand, we get bombarded with the Leaf Filter commercials so it just popped into my pea brain when I saw the gutters. Our place in WV was on a wooded lot so I spent a lot of time on the roof with the leaf blower. I feel your pain.

Those old Kohler's love to burn oil, so watch out for that. Friend has a Terrimite backhoe with a 20HP CH series and it smokes like a bong at idle. Seems OE rebuild "kits" are long gone, so we just clean the plugs every other use and put more oil in it. It's a prime candidate for a Predator swap, but will take some work to convert it.

I have a 22HP Kohler on my Cub, albeit the newer design. I notice the oil like to get HOT. I ran some VR1 10w30 in it for a while and recently switched to a 15w40. Should be a nice buffer.

Ordered my first generator. I have more propane on hand than gas, so the dual fuel option was a must.

I had the 8500 version of this one. It served me very well through hurricane outages and remote job site power supply. Just sold it since I have a whole home genny now. Never had a problem with it and it ran great off propane.

I'm open to that too but looking at one less motor to maintain.
