I tried it out the one time and was like "well I'll be damned"

May or may not try it out in the winter. Not a big fan of letting something idle, especially direct injection.

    Agreed.

Same for the annual Delaware Meet I've been a part of since 2023.

We all lead busy lives so getting together can be challenging.

Keeping in touch here is easier than phone/text messages...I've learned.

Am I missing something here about idle time and EFI? I always let my vehicles warm up a little, usually about 5 minutes or the idle revs down to normal speed.

I’m not a mechanic or anything but I’ve always been told that with modern vehicles, letting them “warm up” is unnecessary and just puts premature wear on the motor by adding idle time.

Someone who is very knowledgeable on the topic once told me that the idea of letting a car warm up is from the 1950’s-ish era when motors actually needed it.

But again, I’m just parroting what I’ve been told and that all could be wrong lol

I normally turn my truck on, wait the 20-30 seconds until the RPMs drop and then put it on gear.

Yea, I’ve heard that before as well. I’ve just always lived by the thought that metal expands and contracts when warm and cold… same with the gaskets between pieces of metal. And pumps like to warm up as well. So operating temperature before driving just made sense to me.

I think there’s probably shades of truth between both, but have never seen or heard anything scientific (factual) to prove either way.

Same here, I’ve never heard anyone (who would actually know) say that either way is definitively right. It’s usually just a bunch of arguing about the topic lol.

I definitely let it idle for longer in the winter before I put it into gear.

Oh, for sure! Winter months always get the motor warm first.

But agreed, no one really knows the “truth” I don’t believe… comes down to what that said person has been taught and believes.
