    They make these carpet kits in CA, I found a deal on mine for $150

    $150 for the used camper shell and $150 for the used carpet kit made a nice low profile camper for cheap
    Sure it doesn't have all the over landing amenities you might want but if you pack well!

    I don’t get it, you have to build your storage to the specs of the carpet? That seems backwards, bulk carpet is cheap and easy to cut

    They make them so they minimally cover above and in between the wheel wells to maximize sleeping area I suppose? Its just plywood and weather proof carpet and padding. But you could make whatever you like. I don’t think I could have purchased the materials and everything for under $150 though
