The actual high opinion case is priced reasonably and on par with the Yukon case I bought for the rear. It’s the gears that cost a fortune at 1200-1500 bucks each.

rear will either be the ruffstuff housing out of my white truck with a 35 spline spool or I’ll order another trail gear housing and build that. Still undecided.

I ordered the front housing over Memorial Day I think. Shipping through tg kills the deal but summit honors it and gives free shipping which makes it worth it. I’ll wait though as it’ll be a while till I’m at that point. I have a speedway rear housing I’ll use for mockup.
thanks. Progress has slowed but goal is to have it done summer of 2025. I always look at other builds and wish I could do that nice of work so hoping to try new things and push myself. Big reason for starting over vs building out my white truck was to redo everything I didn’t like and improve.

Spent yesterday getting the housing cut really close to length. Won’t know if it’s correct till I order spindles and hubs. I tried putting the solid axle industry cs on. Used a hone to clean them up some and heated them in the grill and sanded the tube. Same way I did my last axle but something was off and they wouldn’t go on. One got stuck and I beat the shir out of it to get it back off and called it a night.

Today I just threw them in the mill and spent the time to get the boring bar centered and a single pass made it so they slip on with the tap of a hammer. This let me assemble the inner c and get the knuckle on so I can start to figure out the steering ram. Need the steering ram on so I can figure out the panhard and get the steering box in place before I throw it back under the truck.

This was what I started with to mount the ram. Just a piece of 1.75 bent at a 45. I didn’t like the ram hanging over the front and how high it was.

So I notched the tube around the center section and lowered it some and placed the ram at an angle. I honestly have no idea what I’m doing just using some pictures as a reference. Tomorrow I’ll measure how much steering I have on my other truck as it’s identical besides the knuckles on it are stock dodge ones. But that’ll give me an idea of how much steering I’ll get and if I need to move the ram closer to the housing to get the shaft inline at full steer.

If anyone has any input I’m all ears. I’ve never set up a double ended ram before.

No real updates. Dropped the Ram on my foot last week and broke a toe and it wouldn’t fit in a shoe.

I sold my truck camper a month or so ago and been looking for an enclosed to add a bathroom and kitchen and beds and finally found one so bombed up to Reno/Sacramento area on Thursday right in a break between snow and grabbed this 32ft haul mark edge gooseneck. It has so rust I didn’t find till I got home but should work good for my needsIMG_7821.jpg IMG_7830.jpg IMG_7849.jpg IMG_7853.jpg IMG_7882.jpg IMG_7887.jpg IMG_7894.jpg IMG_7900.jpg

Finally some more progress on the Ram. Rebent the tube on the front for more protection and extends a little farther out. Drew and cut a plate to mount the weld blocks and will probably weld a nut incase the blocks ever strip out. Needs a few more gussets on the back and a cap plate and some more plating and it’ll be done. Kind of wish I put more a bend in the tube to cut the back side and have it flow into the housing vs how I did but with a plate to cap it, it’ll be good.IMG_7935.jpg IMG_7940.jpg IMG_7942.jpg IMG_7948.jpg IMG_7950.jpg IMG_7948.jpg

Ended up welding the truss on and tacing all the steering brackets back on so I could get the axle under the truck. I’ll wait to fully weld the steering till I make the tie rods and figure out the drag link. I also took the time between welding the truss to fix the passenger motor mount to clear the upper link and ended up fully welding the upper link mount. Still only tacd to the housing though.

I also cut a bunch of triangle supports for the back of the plate the ram clamps bolt to along with a cap. Should look pretty good all done.

Not a huge fan of how I terminated the tube in the passenger side. It wasn’t till after I made all the braces and support that I realized I should have bent that side more and notch the back side for a cleaner look. With another plate or two and some paint I don’t think it’ll be noticeable though.IMG_7960.jpg IMG_7964.jpg IMG_7966.jpg IMG_7967.jpg IMG_7968.jpg IMG_7970.jpg IMG_7972.jpg IMG_7975.jpg
