The newcomer showed up just after closing time.
Little bit earlier than last time.
I'll be waiting for him later.

Just wondering if any of yall have a similar product and would you recommend this style? I need a way to get deer out of the woods which is mostly an up hill drag. I’m currently using a dog leash and it’s a battle.

This is what I use, it’s deep enough that the deer won’t roll out.IMG_5670.png

Thanks for your input. I'll probably buy this one or something similar soon.
My concern for the wheeled cart style, is the task of the getting the deer loaded up into the cart by myself., and not having it tip over going over fallen timber.

Yep. Cart works only in flat ground. Your best bet would be sled

Not really and you could drill some holes in the top flange and secure with some rope. There might already be some holes there, I don’t recall.

I always wondered. Why don’t you east coasters and mid westerns just carry the meat out in a pack? Carts and sleds seem more fussy.

Or butcher in the field and carry out with game bags?

I very seldom had to drag a deer more than a couple hundred yards and I can access most anywhere I hunt with a 4 wheeler. When it comes to butchering, I would much rather have the deer hanging inside a building to skin it and work it up.

Same here, 99.9% of our drags are less than 500 yards, if that, and most of the time we can get the 4 wheeler to them.

I guess that’s the confusing part… if you can drive right up, why the sled and carts?

It helps to keep dirt and leaves out of the body cavity and also, if it’s a big buck you want to have mounted it also keeps the cape from getting damaged.

I’m going to chalk this up to it simply being something ya’ll do because you like to do it that way.

Especially being less than 500 yards away. It’s not like having to walk 12 miles down a mountain, the meats not going to spoil.

You can pretty much pack out a whole deer in one trip. Butchered and all without opening the guts up. A quad would make it even easier.

You can’t really save the cape this way, but I think mounts are a little serial killerish anyways, so it’s not something I worry about personally.

Technically if youve killed more than 3 deer you are a Deer serial killer....

    Not that I know of.
I have a nature preserve on one side of me and a non hunter type with land bordering another side. Haven't got to know him well enough to get hunting permission and don't believe anyone is hunting his land. I did get verbal consent to recover an animal if it goes on his land though. Across the road is a couple houses with small properties.
