Saw em last month at Lumen Field. Never seen so many people for a non sporting event. Pantera kicked ass.

St. Anger is probably thier worst album. The later albums are good, they just dont have the sound of the earlier albums. I've grown to like all thier stuff for the most part but yeah the albums from the 80's are peak Metallica in my opinion.

As a child of the 80s and as an actual grandfather I think I get to qualify as an old man, I have been mostly disappointed with all of my favorite bands in their geriatric years, which includes Pink Floyd, Metallica, and iron maiden. And Ozzy Osbourne has been dead since his reality show.

Mustaine is a great guitar player and had a lot to do with the material on the Kill'em All album even though he was replaced by Kirk Hammit before they recorded the album.

It was WVH, Pantera, and Metallica. Last time I saw Suicidal Tendencies was 2002? 03? It's been awhile

I know what you mean but all bands change over time. I just accept the fact that when I listen to thier new stuff it's going to sound different than early Metallica, not worse or better just different.

I bet if Cliff was still alive he would have probably been fired for trying to stay heavy like the old stuff. I actually got to see them on the And justice tour with Queensryche and Suicidal Tendencies. Got to check them out during a sound check and had the pleasure of Robert Trujillo sitting beside me while it was going on . But they still SUCK now!

The whole Napster lawsuit wasn't a good look for them. I think it was mainly Lars that pushed the issue. I get it that making music is their lively hood but at the same time they were already worth millions and millions of dollars at that point in 2000.

I saw somewhere that Lars is now worth like four hundred million.

It is interesting to think how they would have progressed if Cliff had not been killed.

I like Robert but he just doesn’t fit for me , when I did get to see them it was Jason singing all the old thrash. Robert is Suicidal and Infectious Grooves :headbang:

Best show for me was at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City - Body Count opened the show just after they were "banned" from singing Cop Killer - which of course they sang anyways - James had just been burned from the pyro accident and was only singing - Guns N Roses closed the night.

Give song 3 (Screaming Suicide) on 72 Seasons a listen - the music from about the 2:42 to just before the 4 minute mark.. the music not the words - it gets the old blood flowing.

I really like the instrumental parts in the LoG songs I've heard. They could have been the best groove metal band in the world if they had a decent vocalist.

On a related note, the Megadeth album that just came out is probably their best since United Abominations.

Mustaine and Cliff were the most legitimate members of Metallica.

I like that Metallica records all their concerts and releases them for download. You can buy the “live” album of the specific show you were at. Probably one of the coolest souvenir you can get.

I saw them about this time last year in a smaller venue, about 2000 capacity. They still got it, and have to say Robert's son Tye is a damn good bassist even as a teenager.

2.5" OME lift, Fox 2.5 coil overs, all pro expo leafs, ubolt flip kit w/ upgraded bump stops, 1.25" wheel spacers, 16" Bronze KMC Impact OL wheels, 295/75/r16 Nitto grapplers, beige Softopper, Brute force front bumper w/smittybilt winch, RCI rear bumper, caliraised rock sliders, TRD IFS skid plate custom swingout tailgate w/spare tire mount, TC bed stiffeners, Magnum force CAI, KC spotlights, tacomabeast headlights, rear seat molle panel odds and ends, hi lift, MESO interior lights, and a fuck load of patches… more planned for later.
First concert I ever went to was in 2004 at the cow palace, godsmack opened for Metallica. I was 17 and some dude was being carted out on a stretcher as I was walking in with my friends. To this day still the best concert I’ve been to. The pyrotechnics indoors left my ears ringing for a couple days afterwards. Mostly standing room surrounding the stage, it was practically one giant mosh pit the entire show. :headbang:

Part of that is bands get years to work on their first album. Then they get famous and record exec's have a say in what happens. That's one thing I've always respected about Tool. Maynard keeps total control of all the sound and production. The new Tool album that everyone hated is, IMO, their best work. Listen to it with a decent set of cans and the amount of things going on in the music is insane.

For me, Black Flag is another but I'm a huge LoG fan to be sure.

I didn't even care they got upset about the downloading. They're not wrong in saying it's taking away sales, much like making a cassette copy was prior. When they acted like my buying the disc and saving it on my computer or making a copy for my personal use only was the same thing is when I got incensed.

Seen Godsmack well over 100 times myself.
