I was actually invited to the board meeting this weekend regarding my donation and how to spend the money. They’ve already provided particulars to the shelters that need certain items. I asked that the money gets divided up between the food for shelters, the dog park, and the training program that trains dogs for local hospitals and nursing homes.


The other organizations have given us tours. The most eye opening is a Children’s Justice group. Their facility will hit you in the feels. They have a full medical office for exams, the soundproof interview room was crazy. The 10k I gave them is going towards the construction of a new building which gives a home like feel for children and their families navigating the system after being victims of abuse. The main center receives grants and government funds so they have to be very particular how the funds are spent. Technically my 10k went to the “friends of” 501c3 organization that raises funds for other needs. Like if they need to buy clothes, new beds, remodel a bedroom to distract the child from where the abuse happened(think PTSD), or any other need that the main organization can’t spend public funds on. I am 100% happy with the 35k that went into my community, no regrets!
