I tried to ask this question on one of the FB groups mostly got insults and ridicule.
Since I use the start button far more than the 4WD button, it would be easier to reach for me.
I was wondering if anyone has done something like this?
    It is a 2016.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would work unless you made a modification..

Those button and knobs are using different fitments. I mean Start button has wall all the way to top of ring while 4x4 has no wall.

Ok, just wondering, didn't want to start pulling things apart if someone had tried it successfully or otherwise.

He is not only one asked this question. This question has been asked lot of times on here. I have not seen anyone swapped them yet.

With a 3D cover where the Start Button was and a longer harness the button can be placed wherever OP likes. Just need a 3D printed holder for the new location.

Not sure how I can explain it other than that I find myself pushing the 4wd often when I mean to push the start button. I have also accidentally grabber the 4WD switch when I meant to turn the fan switch. At least the start button will not turn so I would prefer it in the middle instead of at the end. I'm sure I will eventually figure it out as it happens far less frequently. Again, I was just curious if it had been successfully done.

I don't really use the volume controls on the steering wheel so it hasn't been an issue for me.

I don't think it's as simple as swapping the two buttons. Maybe put a piece of tape over the 4wd knob? :notsure:

Actually, I was hoping that it would have been that simple. It sure would have been so in the old days. I'll learn, I'm sure.

I thank the OP for this question, could have used it when I first bought the vehicle. I could not get use to finding the hidden Start button as the steering wheel was in my line of sight. It was my first push-to-start vehicle and was dealing with the newness of that and the poorly added button location. I've had this panel out of the vehicle and failed to look at the possibilities as I had gotten use to the "hidden" position of the Start button. I hope the 4th generation has had this corrected.

IIRC the two buttons have different sizes and "keying" to just be able to swap them.

Thanks for the diagrams, it has exceeded my ability to comprehend, however.

He was just detailing the electrical connections that may need to be extended if the physical move worked out for you. There are connector part number in his post that would need to be procured, connector pins installed and wired.

I recently changed the ‘chrome’ 4wd selector ring with one from AJT Design. Their video was easy to follow, and I think it actually took less time than watching the video.

If you want to swap the buttons, it is not at all difficult to remove the face plate, unhook the wiring, and pull the face plate out. You can then work at removing each switch and seeing what it takes to swap positions. Then, see if the harnesses have enough slack to reach the new positions.

Find the AJT video on their website or yootube and give it a shot.

Color matches wire location on connector. Used to assemble mating connector. Length of wires depends on relocation of switch. 3D print to secure switch in its new location. Any other questions, state them here.

He was not talking about changing the look, he meant start button location. Which means he wants PTS button and 4x4 control swapped.
