Well see. Planning on coming in from the south. Trying to stay at Twin lake. Not sure how far up we can make it.
Err south is open right? like Deer valley trailhead on google maps.

Yeah it should all be open up or down, twin's easy to get to but not much camping up there, they've bouldered off most of the lake access now.

And watch out for leeches at Twin...

Line choice is key! It was pretty much our first forray with bigger rocks outside of places like Bowman or Hollister. We're just just flat landers looking for something a bit more challenging then double track fire roads. Looks like you're packing 33s and at least a leveling kit. Should be no problem at all. Buddy was super sad about not making it all the way up but will be back.

I now also understand the real need for sliders though lol.....

I kept my eyes out for y'all, pretty quiet up at blue lakes area yesterday afternoon.
And for the record, Twin is officially day use only now, the road has been completely regraded and gravelled. Saw Mountain bringing a big chipper truck down when I was sitting at the far side of Lower Blue so I cruised up to see what's new.

We ended up at Corral Hollow. Cant make it over the boulders at the beginning of the trail from the south with 33s. Gonna have to try it from the north next time. Sorry couldn’t join you for that beer lol

Leavitt lake is.........super short lol. Challenging if you're a noob or don't have clearance. But if you can get a good spot there, absolutely gorgeous. Have not been to Laurel so I know nothing about that trail since I haven't researched it yet.

I've been to laurel. Easy with lift and 33s+. Very rocky so its crawling speeds most of the way. Took me almost 2 hours and that was sharing the road and taking my time.
Haven't been to leavitt lake lol I was worried it might be short

Saw that. I don't think I'm down for the hour detour through Carson pass to get to laurel either.

SO.. anyone down for camping at sour grass or something? I know it's raining Saturday.. I'm looking forward to it

Saw a Subaru Forester up at Leavitt when we were there towards the end of September

Not a challenging drive, but it's a gorgeous camp spot. But it is super popular these days so bring your poo tent :bucket:
