Haha yeah they could be cousins, at the last place i lived, the guy next to me had a boxer that was white with a small brown patch as well. When they first saw each other the both froze and wouldnt move they just stared at each like they were looking into a mirror it was quite comical :)

Typically, a breeder will keep puppies until they're 8w old and are eating solid kibble. Anything before that could also result in some socialization issues--litter mates learn the ins and outs of pack living through play.

There are instances a breeder will let a pup go at 7w but 6w just seems to be way too soon.

I thought 6w was too early as well. I've looked at a bunch of different sites, they all seem to have 7w listed. My last dog was 6w and she def had some behavioral issues. She was still a great dog though.

Ill talk to the guy tomorrow about it. He says hes been breeding for 20 yrs so I figured he knew what he was doing. Or he's just out to make a buck.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Just cause he is a "breeder" doesn't make him right. There are MANY irresponsible breeders out there, just trying to make a buck. Go with your gut.... and get references. 8 wks is a minimum, and 10 weeks seems to be the max. With in that time frame seems to be a good mix of behaviors according to research. Good luck, and please follow your heart.

A friend of mine is traveling to OH to pick up his new boxer pup soon. From the pix, he's gonna be a big dog.

Boxers are such awesome dogs too! Great picture!

In all fairness, there are a lot of breeders out there that produce great dogs and don't necessarily follow the crowd with respect to practices, etc.

Lineage is one example of a breeder's intent. Number of litters a year is another. A good breeder may not have many litters and will definitely be looking to better the breed using more selective breeding.

You could ask if he hunts or shows his dogs as well. My guy came from a mostly hunting breeder and you can see that in his behavior.

How ever it works out for you, good luck on finding the right dog for you!
