Oh there will be some mods all right
Some nice finds on a short little mini adventure. The pictures of the blackberry bushes don't even kind of convey just how massive they were. I'm 6 feet tall with my hiking boots on and even standing on my tippy toes and reaching as high as I could I couldn't reach the tallest one. The tallest one also had a bigger stalk then the picture but I didn't want to get all scraped up just to get in there. Also it was a real shame to see such beautiful hardwood going to waste.

Out in the Mojave Desert, I found a couple old cans that I’m pretty sure held some sort of powder. I’m thinking black powder? Hercules Powder Co.

Im not sure what they held. I could not get a clear picture of the logo. The cans are severely rusted and the sun was very bright. I was nearly able to make out Hercules Powder and I know from reloading ammo that they made gun powder. The cans were next to a small mountain where they gouged it out to lay down train tracks. That’s why I was thinking it was some kind of explosive material. But that’s just my guess. Maybe it was baking or baby powder.

Genghis Khan was buried in a secret place with no markers, then those who buried him were killed to keep the site secret. Sounds a bit understated to me ... :anonymous:

While doing estate planning before travelling to a dry, hot... explody part of the world I had a a discussion with a mortician friend. According to him the only legal way to "return to nature" in the US is to donate your remains to one of 8 "body farms" where they study decomposition of remains. Apparently using a woodchipper to turn yourself into compost for a tree that your descendants might actually enjoy in lieu of a headstone is frowned upon.

Not quite as cheap as the woodchipper method, but you can be composted and get the dirt for a garden or whatever.

My wife and I are signed up for a "green burial," where you are put into the ground in only a shroud or decomposible wood coffin.
