    back to bone stock.

this is 100% the jumping off point for this problem and ones that are similar.

if you want me to punt, i vote starter solenoid has a short.

That is why always you start with the basics. Battery terminal connections is the basics, not checking all kind crap first. What did you do, replace battery terminal with cheap style terminals?

Look for water damage. Now I think starter issues with solenoid.

    Wow.
As usual most start issues are the battery or cable or connections to battery.
So simple but most people refuse to try it first.
Don't know why so many jump to alternator or starter or other things first.
Also you don't need to buy vehicle from a dealership for warranty to be in effect.

Because it takes 10 seconds to check the alternator. Checking the battery requires a load test which is not nearly as easy.

I personally have not had a problem with a battery connection since the 1980's. I still have a battery post cleaner in my toolbox though.

Like I said in my post
Most start issues are the battery or connections so check that first not alternator.
Maybe you haven't had a battery connection issue in 40+ years but you're 1 in a million.

Checking the battery connection and checking the alternator can be done at the same time using a multimeter. Checking the battery is a whole different ball of wax.

I never heard of anyone having a bad battery connection until this thread. When I've encountered it, it has been because of really bad corrosion on the posts or terminals. I think we might have a different definition of "battery connection".

Good grief. Yes I (and most) consider the point at the battery post with clamps to be the main connection. It can and is often compromised by corrosion and/or deposits or loose. Semantics.

Good grief to you too, Sir! We're obviously not communicating very well. Peace out

I had a cracked terminal connection once on another truck. Wiggled it and started every time. Glad you found it.
