I paid very close attention to fore/aft balance and tongue weight when I loaded; the tongue weight ended up being about 150 pounds and it towed like a dream with no significant squat in the rear of the truck. For the entire trip between New Hampshire (which can be pretty hilly) down to the DC area via the Pocono's (with long and sometimes winding grades), there was literally zero drama; that trailer was as stable as could be and given it has its own brakes, there was never an issue with overtaxing the truck. As for speeds and vehicle spacing, yeah, I kept the speeds at the posted limit and left significant room in front of me on the off chance traffic slowed unexpectedly. Honestly, assuming the trailer is loaded correctly, I don't understand how a full size Chevy would have an issue with it.

Wait a second... 150 pounds of tongue weight on a 6500 trailer load?!?

Ok, but I couldn’t remember or find the exact year until I studied the brochures. I was simply pointing you to the research I did.

Mmm, sounds like not enough tongue weight, I've done ~8k Lbs up to 70mph just fine. The trucks are more then capable, just the suspension is designed around people moving groceries, not recovering a broken down family member's yukon or jeep liberty.

Granted the rule of thumb of any bumber pull style trailer is to not exceed the towing vehicle's weight, as it is easy to end up in a situation where the trailer starts deciding where the tow vehicle is going to go.
