Actually I think that was the joke on the Space Force show, the Coast Guard was under Salvation Army...got NG and CG mixed up

The Space Force is a real thing now too, although I'm kinda confused what their purpose is...to protect Nasa and private space flight companies like SpaceX or what.

That's what I thought too at first, but the fact that it actually stuck around and didn't fall apart afterward was kind of surprising. I thought they did some oversight or joint projects with Nasa and SpaceX but I might be wrong.

 

I don't think so? The latest footage I saw was what they released a few months ago during the trials or whatever. The footage of the recovery operation showing some of the wreckage on the sea floor. Was there something new?

 

Maybe that's the same stuff - apparently the footage was recorded within 2-3 days after the whole incident but wasn't initially released for what seems like a year?

Talking about the nose that was broken off (after the implosion) and the mostly intact rear portion as well.

 

Space Force isn't a totally new military function, it's more like a rebranding/promotion of the USAF Space Command, which has existed since the Cold War.

 

Yep that's what I saw. They weren't making that public until after the investigation was complete or up to a point, which accounted for the delay.

And yeah, then there's all these grown ass adults thinking it was all staged because the ends (non-pressurized) sections of the submersible were intact...sigh.

 

We should let them go down and experiment for themselves

 

I'm game, that would be cheaper than blasting them into the exosphere on a one way trip to finally see that the earth is indeed not flat.
