Toyota secures at the tie down hooks at either side. Remove hook and replace over panel.

Not yet on mine. Still no rattles anywhere. Read somewhere here that it was their center speaker?

Definitely either the HUD or dash under the HUD on mine. I can gently rest my finger on that area and it stops, but no change when I do so at the speaker. Will have to stuff some thick paper or foam in there at some point I guess.

In prep for rear view mirror digital camera relocation, couple of observations.

    Look Ma! No more gap:

Those with bed scene lights. Remove the bed rail cap from the front first. Wiring for those lights starts from a connection at tail light and runs toward the front attached to the underside of the cap:

Rattles drive me wild. I had one in rear driver side door panel that I was able to fix easily. Let us know how you fix it so we can get a jump on it if it happens to us.

I did correct it by sliding a napkin under the edge of the HUD plastic insert, but I dont like that. I will remove it when I get home and likely fit a thin 1-sided adhesive foam strip along one edge.

@snickers - I got a Diamondback HD bed cover that calls for the plastic bed cap to be removed for the fitting of shims. I just realized we have the integrated bed lights in that plastic cap. Any idea how they are wired? I don’t want to damage anything.

The wire comes up from beneath the rear wheel well travels in its own channel in the plastic bed cap and ends towards the front. You can see the entry point bottom third of this picture. Coming out of that metal rectangular cutout. Toyota feels it is safe enough. Just had my RSI Smartcap put on. I ran wiring for the digital camera relocation and wiring for LED lights through that same opening.

Hope that helps. Dunno what shims and how it will affect it.

Edit: You can peel the plastic cap from front to back. Maybe use a plastic trim tool to help.

It helps a lot. So you removed it starting from the bulkhead? Also it looks like wires are long enough they shouldn’t tear out. Lastly .. did the clips come back in firm? I’m used to Toyota clips getting “loose” once dislodge from factory.

If you mean bulkhead being the back of the cab, front of the bed then yes. To replace, just eyeball the tabs from the side and tap it in place with the palm of your hand.

They had to do some ziggin and zagging:

Relocated the rear digital camera because I intend to go vertical. Thus blocking optical rear view:

The rear wheel well squatted nearly an inch from stock with the new topper, RTT, 270 degree awning and a shower/poop vanity closet. Truck looks barely nose high. I haven't even loaded stuff in yet. Toyota said this was supposed to be for fat pigs. I am taking them up on the challenge.

Will be looking for stiffer springs, anyone?

looks great - how many pounds is all that gear on the bed? And are you level or Carolina squat (assuming we had rake from the factory - I can’t tell on mine)?

I assume you had to install shims too or did you do this solely for the rear camera relocation ? Wondering if I should add some wiring for future kit since I am removing it.

My imagination says slight Carolina nose snub. That will change back to normal rake with front bumper and winch. I think.
