Had this young fella visit with my decoy yesterday, probably 7 or 8 yds from me here. He was all ruffled up and had his ears pinned back, spoiling for a fight.
    IMG_20241101_180431.jpg
An hour later he brought his big brother, but they came behind me and directly downwind. Behind me is a real heavy fence line with a ditch running through it, no chance for a shot. Didn't want to move to get my phone to take a pic, but he was a monster. I'm back tonight hoping he comes to the front door this time.

Good to get the inside scoop :hattip:

I’ve been waiting for 2.5 months for my trigger finger specialist…

Also, my PCP’s office pretty much blew me off when I called to report what I thought was shingles.

I had a persistent itch on my back, a day or so later my wife asked what was going on and she looked. There was a band of red dots that went from close to my spine, stopped, then continued just underneath my chest muscle. Only my back itched.

I called and messaged the PCP office and they responded the next day. I responded and they took another day to ask questions about symptoms. I had already reported all symptoms the day before.

I’ve known people w shungles who have had horrible experiences. Whole sides of their back and chest, long lasting symptoms and treatments. I didn’t want to go through that.

I was already seeing a dermatologist for an unrelated issue and called his office. I wasn’t surprised when an actual person answered, they’re that responsive. I asked if it was in the Dr’s wheelhouse to treat shingles and the receptionist said let me check. Later that afternoon I had an appointment, he confirmed my diagnosis and prescribed a couple of meds that knocked it right down.

It didn’t spread but I have post whatever syndrome that makes my back itch daily.

Sorry for the long story, I shared because no healthcare system on this continent is perfect. It takes knowledge and resourcefulness to get needed treatment.

Let me know if you’re in northern NH or VT and need a dermatologist

Lol, I was joking with a coworker a few months ago, "out of 6 BILLION people, we've narrowed everyone down to these two people being our best choices?!?"

I want to go to a one year term reverse lottery system. Anyone entered as a voter is entered. They pull a number, that person is president for the year.

I mean how much worse can we get? Conversely, with only a year term, I don't think any other person could screw anything up any worse than the official well-educated, politically-connected people do. I actually think it would give some really interesting insights into the country-- a farmer gets appointed one year, a jobless trailer park resident the next...

At the very least, they'd have an idea how expensive groceries are...

When you have millions or more, why would you care how much groceries or any thing else has gone up? Politics are bull crap, I say give every one of those dipshits a pay cut. A HUGE pay cut.

If that's what you are getting it's because you aren't doing it right, or your state is screwed up. Between my wife and I we've had two heart ablation procedures, two new knees, an ulnar nerve surgery, care when we need it and within a reasonable time. We're on Medicare for a little over $200 a month and our supplemental is about $40... and the supplemental has a benefit that gives us $75 in health care products every quarter. We get so much stuff that we supply our kids and a SIL that's on another plan with the standard over-the-counter meds.

All things considered, I have damn fine medical care and I really wonder how other people don't. It's easy to shop the marketplace and get what you need and for reasonable money.

Can we dial it back a notch?

Let's not kill a favorite thread over things that are not quickly changed.

I'm not supposed to, but I blew the leaves from the trees into my street. I figured it was the cities tree, mother nature must have put the leaves in the street.

We aren't allowed to burn the leaves anymore, so into the street they go!

I blew my leaves into my ditch, keeps the weeds from growing in it. The county used to have leaf pickup, until the jerk over it kept having the workers do jobs for him at his residence.

My wife needed a CT last year. Took a time to get in. 3 weeks maybe. Took another 3 months to see a doc to discuss the CT results. It took so long that the diagnosis/ treatment was denied by insurance because of the amount of time that had passed, so she had to go get another CT and meet with the doc again. Then the medicine they recommended wasn’t approved by the insurance company, because they said it was too expensive, and thought the generic was good enough after their specialist (who was not a brain specialist) reviewed the case, and the appeal.
It ain’t exactly all sunshine and rainbows here, and we have a very good insurance plan through my wife’s work. It’s too bad we can’t get a combination of our two systems to get the best of both worlds.

edit: I will say I lucked out with my/our pcp. She is great.

The fellow I met today was a Blacksmith, we had an enjoyable hour visiting.
He had many tools he had made including an assortment of hammers...

Not related but related -- we don't attract much attention here in the shop fellers, y'all might want to go back and clean up the last page or so.

We don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention.

Looks very similar to what was over my kitchen sink, absolutely painful to work on.

That’s where this one is at. I’ve got to figure out how dad wired it years ago, and probably install a junction box.
