1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

So to clarify I consider a B-52 rare to be seen flying over San Angelo, TX. Super Guppy is the last of it's kind but even it is less rare to see than a B-52 over our skies. Since it's based out of El Paso we just catch it on it's way to the Johnson Space Center.

We don't have an Air Force base with an active flight line and Dyess AFB to or north means we just don't see them. First I've seen one here in 7 years.

 

Today I learned about the "Essential Air Service" program. It subsidizes flights to/from small airports that are more than 210 miles away from a large or medium air hub.

My mom told me today that the family Christmas gathering will be at her mom's place in west-central Illinois. In the past I've driven (~10 hours from Colorado Springs) or taken Amtrak from Chicago to Quincy (~4 hours on the train), but it looks like I can fly from Chicago to Quincy (~2 hours on the plane) for less than $150 round-trip (on top of the flight to Chicago).

The route is run by Southern Express Airways, using a Cessna Caravan--a single-turboprop, high-wing with room for 9 passengers.

My uncle flew from St Louis to Quincy years ago and said he got to sit in the copilot's seat because there was nobody else on the plane.

Sounds like fun.

I’ve seen a few Buffs fly over our place on their way in/out of Edwards AFB in the desert here. Always crazy to see just how freaking huge the Buff wingspan is

 

We just signed the paperwork on the deal for our first house. Not a minute too soon either as we have to leave our rental home by the end of the month…we were starting to get nervous. All goes well with inspections and we should have the keys by Thanksgiving

 

I just confirmed that it was a flyover for our local university military appreciation night. If I’d known I would’ve considered going to the game.

 

Worse can you can always crash at the Pilates studio lol

 

Yeah living between travis AFB and Moffet AFB as well as he have fleet week every year here in the bay area we get to see alot of stuff around here too.

I can do that with my eyes on demand, but every once in a while it'll happen to me uncontrolled and I get super nauseated, like some sort of micro seizure or something. The first time I remember it happening I was staring at the sealing in my grandparents house while laying on the couch with a broken ankle waiting to go to the ER after wrecking a dirt bike, Good times.

Maintenance and then insurance is probably cheaper in the long run

 

Why would you even have one issued

 

So someone else could tactfully aquire it and make it impossible to check out years later after never touching it unless you wanted to buy it back from the nearest military surplus store

 

Having used my own suspension system was the best upgrade I had done in terms of comfort.

Patric from Perry Parts takes customer service seriously apparently. I reached out a few days ago with about 5 days remaining on my original year warranty because one of the 4 bumpstops started to show some wear after being abused from the Colorado trip and week of Trail Hero and apparently they had made some changes so he sent me their new and improved design.
That's the most stickers I've ever received in one package and for once I didn't have to worry about telling my wife how much I spent.

I thought I was getting 2 replacement bumpstops not 8!
