Thanks for installing the lift on my truck today Dave!
Stoked on how it turned out.

Dave is a great guy. Appreciate his attention to detail and taking the time to make sure everything is done right. He knows his stuff and I would highly recommend him for any work on you Toyotas.
    Thanks again for the help.

That’s my truck in the pics Dave posted. Now it’s time to decide on wheels and tires.

I found a local set of 886x springs for $30 and took the chance. Installed them over the weekend. The foam cells are a pain in the ass to swap the spring on the truck but it can be done. Ride is much, much better. I still need an alignment (needed one from before swapping the springs) but I’m happy with the results. After a few hundred miles, I’m going to check the droop and see if I have enough. Since the OME fit, the dobinsons springs should fit too. At least I think they are same size.

I don’t think it’ll matter on your coast, but I had a good build up of dirt and rust under the spring seat. I cleaned it all up and added woolwax to help prevent more.

Thank you for the information and update! You would be surprised by the rust in some of our beach cities and mountain communities here in CA.

Sounds like a great “feature!” Who needs to apply Woolwax when your shocks do it themselves :fistbump::rofl:

This 3rd gen Tacomas needle bearing got the best of me this weekend. This trucks needle bearing completely exploded. I have done over 30 needle bearing to ecgs bushing swaps, never seen one actually destroyed.

The shell or cage of the bearing somehow was shoved inward. Making it impossible to use the ecgs removal tool or even my blind hole puller. I tried for hours and ran out of daylight. Unfortunately the needle bearing shell will likely have to be cut out. At least I was able to get most of the needles and metal out of the diff and change the seal. Owner is going to take to a gear shop for extraction.

Lesson is, replace them needle bearings with an ecgs bushing if you are lifted. Just do it. Don't wait until it's too late like in this case.

How much would you charge to trim fenders and flares?

gotcha okay no problem, how about the parts and labor to install the ECGS bushing? I didn’t know how critical that piece is to replace after getting lifted.

I always recommend it. Some people don't have issues but some do. It's kind of 50/50. I will PM you about what you need for the ECGS install.

    Two Tacomas last weekend!

    1. Installed a very nice set up on this 23 Tacoma. Dobinsons full heavy weight kit. I assembled the coilovers on my Branick wall mounted spring compressor. Also replaced the needle bearing with an ECGS bushing. Dobinsons is definitely a nice option. I used to be a naysayer, but after installing their stuff, I like it A lot!

    2. OG Tacoma was in for some much needed love. Their front shock was bent and wasn't allowing the suspension to travel at all! It rode so bad! Bilstein 5100 set up installed and more. Truck is back to riding nice.
