IMG_2507.jpg IMG_2509.jpg Trying to figure this out fellas . Watch a few videos on this mod turn signal / fog light with switchbacks led bulbs . Everything check out like the video but my light bulb melted inside the socket I tap into my Conner light for power (green wire ) put a led flasher relay ran extra wire into socket .
Not really an electrical wizard here just the normal plug an play haha
Any ideas . Side note I’m also running raptor lights from same clable on Conner lights and only my driver side bulb is melting hot not passenger.

    Start with -

Get them off the same power. Even though we're talking LEDs, I suspect having both powered by the corner lights is just too much.

You should also address the break in the insulation on the green/black wire.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You also might have a poor fit in the socket causing excess heat.

As I mentioned in the other thread make sure you are buying the CK style 3157 bulbs (same side ground)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9ZopjBO3pI

The other option is to get DEPO aftermarket housings that have an 1157 style which is like 80% of the bulbs out there :D

I had a "fog light" setup with button inside the cab.

The bulbs were 1157 so no issues with CK

honestly with LEDs if you want them on with the "running lights" just tap a wire into the corner lights

I did have a CK setup before but the connector always leaked due to the Tacoma not having the 3rd wire already tapped in, so the rubber didn't seal entirely

I bought 3 wire connectors off the web and soldered/heatshrink connected them, no issues since

Another option could be to get the connector disassembled and add the third cable with the plug to prevent water entry and reuse the other 2 existing cables.

I'd get one that's cheap enough, most are off-brands but work fine

    ouch, that's expensive

I paid under $20 for the pair I had. Then ran a wire to tap into the Turn signal wire. Which you will need to do anyway, unless they provide custom harnesses with every circuit built in.

Finished it off with heat-shrink and wrapped in cloth loom tape

my issue is the housings only last for a couple of years due to hot/cold conditions so occasionally if I don't catch it I'll get corrosion on the bulbs

You're kidding. Their kit looked decent. Which ones would you prescribe that you trust? Seems like the bulbs burn too bright for the housings in general, regardless of the kits.

I'm talking about just the harnesses. not bulbs. I already had the bulbs and any will work. just make sure to get CK versions if you stick with the OEM 3157 style
