Great idea. I have a 1962 Massey Ferguson tractor with the original steering wheel, that crown nut is not wanting to budge. They are tough buggers from what i have seen. Maybe I could rent one

i ordered the 6.0 4-pack. all my batteries are getting noticeably older, time to get some new versions, and send the old one's into homeowner project retirement...

the 6.0's work out to $87.25/pack, and the 8.0's work out to $97.25/pack, which is still a decent deal. i used to get the 6.0's for $60/ea off ebay, but they're trending around $75-90 currently...

 

Fastener storage question, not limited to milwaukee. I would like to have a organizer similar to

this idea, this would just be for around the house, do not need the milwaukee quality or care if its stackable but do want way more durable then husky or plano. I want to organize wood screws that range from 1/2 inch to 3 inch going by 1/4 inch intervals, I would love 14-16 compartments. I like this Milwaukee but wish that it was 2 4x4 containers and then 8 4x2 containers. I am also thinking about maybe 2 of these Dewalt ones.

 

have you checked facebook marketplace? i had a set for a while that i got for free from a manufacturing facility when they changed fastener suppliers. i couldn't find a use for it myself, or anyone i knew, so i eventually scrapped it after sitting on it for 6 months trying to make use of the nice containers...

 

$30 for the same metal bins don't seem that bad either

I like that thought and will look into that for organizing bolts for in the shop but want something durable plastic for wood screws so that when it goes dropped/tossed in the car/flipped upside down it doesnt get all mixed up/get damaged/damage whatever it hits.

unfortunately, i've tried a number of those smaller plastic bins, and outside of packout or similar stackable options, most just plain aren't durable enough to survive the drop test. that linked dewalt case included.

 

Ok, do you know if there are options for smaller containers for this packout box or do you have to use dividers like

I really like these versions of the husky for the organization of normal use hardware and screws.

Have you dropped it/abused it and its held up? My current, soon to be trashed, plano one has a hole in the side cause it got dropped about 5 feet, the plastic on the home depot ones I looked at felt about as strong as my plano.

 

i've never gotten into sub-dividing the included cubbies. i've always found that the included cubbies are just large enough for most of my uses.

 

I haven’t dropped it but I have tipped it over and tripped over it a bunch. It’s pretty stout.

 

I use the bottom one but with GRK screw boxes instead of the cubbies. I also have the stack (wheeled cart, large bin, tool tray) for transporting cordless tools far from the truck but mostly just use the tool tray and screw bin box. I didn’t opt for the drawer box or 2-layer box because they weren’t worth the weight.

 

Mine hasn’t broken yet but the clear lid seems a likely failure point. My version of the “Connect” set only cost $100 so it wasn’t a huge investment.
