Seeing the Goose in person is on my Oregon road trip list. Along with the Tillamook factory tour and the Goonies tour in Astoria.
it was for many years until funding for the Evergreen Museum was complete and they built the museum hangar around the Goose so it has a forever home.

They took it apart when it got evicted from Long Beach, then it sat unassembled in Oregon while the museum raised money for a new facility to properly display it. It's a pretty cool setup and worth the detour off I-5 if you find yourself traveling south of Portland.

Absolutely worth stopping at, also make sure you go up Mt Hood to Timberline Lodge

If you’re headed to the Tillamook factory, then add on the Tillamook Air Museum. It’s only a 10 min drive away and is one of the few remaining WWII blimp hangars. Despite the enormous hangar, the museum isn’t that big. You can easily spend several hours, but it wouldn’t be an all day event either.

For me, I really liked that you are allowed to walk up into the Mini Guppy they have on display. On the inside you can see a little bit of how they pieced it together, from the original B377 Stratocruiser airframe to what it is today.

I found this at a Surplus store years ago and have had it in every vehicle I have owned since.

That's way nicer than the ones we get now. The current ones are so flimsy they end up as one time use items, they tossed after one life cycle.

Anyone have one of these? This was a gift from my CFI upon return from passing my PPL check-ride at Dutchess County Airport, Poughkeepsie, NY. (A 200 mile flight from my home base field at the time.)

Quite unlikely, it doesn’t have exterior coating or even leading edge panels. It’s currently a bare metal hangar queen.
