I’m going to reroof the entrance to the cellar roof with some of it. I’ll probably scrap the rest. The house is the next to go. Built in 1893 by my great grandfather before he took his own life (he wanted to make sure his son had a house to live in) and it’s seen better days. I ain’t got enough left in me to even try to fix it up.

You're nuts ... or at least your tastebuds are odd. I could do either ... but not both at once. ❤️

I instantly thought "chicken house" when I saw that picture.
There was one on the farm much like it.
    Form follows function, I guess.
A simple shed with lean-to roof is all that's needed.

    which reminds me...

    Chickens are really pretty stupid.
Most of their behaviors are hard wired though, so it hardly matters.
All they need is shelter, water and some chicken scratch (how much depending on time of year).
Plus nesting boxes for laying eggs and crushed oyster shell for the calcium.
    They'd forage for the rest.
Chickens are Hell on any kind of insect or creepy crawly.

It was funny how they'd all be in the coop by sunset without fail, going to roost.
You closed it up to keep the foxes, weasels and such out.
When you opened the door after sunrise, there would be a jam-up.
The ones in front cautious, the ones in back so excited to be set loose :p

I hate to see it go also but after 84 years it was getting in pretty bad shape. The hedge post are even rotted off at the ground. As I’m tearing it down I can still remember my grandma going in there and coming out with Sunday dinner. And my breakfast came out of there too.
