Parts and requirements are gonna be different for a 2017 I think. 2020+ most came prewired for the switch, relay, and connections on the tail lights. Lots of good write ups on here. I researched for a bit and bought the stuff I needed for my 23.

All I needed to buy was the OEM switch and light kit.

Finally got around to installing some new stuff with the current parts deal at toyota:
    1. Oem tailgate lock
    2. Oem 2nd gen running boards to replace some old faded & starting to rust unsure of what they were i picked up when i bought the truck new. Looks much better and at least the abs/plastic will hide the rust from me on the new ones, lol.
    3. Oem tailgate step. Wish i had done this one sooner!

I believe the actuator is a very common part that could be sourced on Amazon.

Where do you get these? I've been trying to decide between the Dobinson IMS, the OMU MT64 or the Bilstein setup you decided on. I can esily find pacakges for the first two, but finding the Bilstein pacakage has eluded me. I have no idea of the cost on those.

I think heading has it in stock. I’m currently debating on between the bilstein and dobison. My wife has dobison on her 4Runner and rides so smooth

I've heard from several people that Dobinsons ride great, but they are made in China and that just really bothers me. Not due to quality issues, but for all the other issues related to giving up manufacturing to China.

Since I had recently just hit 60k on the odometer, I had to do some maintenance. The oil change was easy as easy can get; done that a week ago. And then this past Saturday I had to change the plugs, air filter, and cabin filter. The filters were cake to replace but man, it was such a pain in the rear to do the plugs. It must have taken me like 3 hrs to replace them. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the fact that I've got big and clunky hands but there's so little space on the driver's side that it was so slow to do. I'm glad it's done and more importantly that I don't have to do it again for probably 4-5 yrs.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong. But seems only get OEM style remote actuators from Amazon. Pop N Lock have to buy the whole kit, not only the actuator.

If it makes you feel any better, it does pay a pro mechanic 2.0 hours labor time to replace V6 spark plugs on a 2023, 2020 should be the same...

SokieTech hood struts. Highly recommend! Easy install and so nice to not need the hood prop rod in the way. I didn't realize how spoiled I've been with my last two full size trucks...

I’ll be changing my rear diff fluid in an about a 1000 miles. I know it uses 75-85 synthetic. Drain and fill plugs at 36 ft lbs. But what is the fluid capacity of the rear diff ?

It's still a little concerning when you have to shave down the snap, but agree, it's doable.
My bigger concern with the Tacorail is the phone mount has some nasty edges to it. Someday I'll end up scratching my camera lens when I'm in a hurry. I did ask them about it, but they pointed out I took too long installing it, so out of warranty and didn't provide any more info if mine is just a one-off defect...but I doubt it is but I'm also mystified that I never see anyone else reporting it.

Here is a tip: be sure you can unscrew the "fill" plug before you unscrew the "drain" plug.

I did that already, and I got new crush washers for both plugs also. Just wondering what the capacity was so I know how much to buy.

At least you have a swtich for the rear window. 2019 $32K+ TRD Sport (bought new) and didn't think to check if the rear window was power (for that price, I'd think it was a safe assumption). Bet you also have a remote for a garage door opener in that fancy truck! (you guessed it, didn't check that either). Oh, and only the driver side door has a sensor to auto-unlock.

Love the truck for what it is (a truck), just some simple stuff like that is a bit frustrating.
