No pic blew the interior seal so didn’t lose any fluid til I took it apart. Feel like they make them to fail.

Yup, planned obsolescence has crept into the supply chain…

Sorry you had to deal with it but at least you didn’t have to clean up so much…

I was push mowing this afternoon and I hit a stump and it killed the engine. I go to pull again and the tension feels different. I move the mower and my blade is laying there bolt intact but my bottom 10 threads are stripped. I try to thread the bolt back in to see if it would re-engage and it bottoms out neck deep. Chances are I've sheared the pin in that spindle? Do I need a new spindle for the blade and belt to ride on or just a new shear pin/ bolt? Glad I kept my backup mower either way.

Ugg, check to see if the crank is bent too.

I didn’t think push mowers came with shear pins, sorry, the spindle is the crank shaft :notsure:

If the bolt is just stripped, maybe drill and nutsert???

I spent a pretty enjoyable afternoon mowing the leaves here at home, probably the last mow for the season.

    speaking of planned obsolescence....

i don't believe any push mower has an allotment for replaceable spindles. it's just part of the crankshaft, and entirely not worth replacing. time for a new motor or mower.

    Morning folks :pccoffee:

Some of you might remember my initial boiler fiasco thinking it was shot. Well, a retired plumbing friend looked at it and the firebox was fine, but he adjusted the air band (it was choked off) and I installed a smaller nozzle (went from a 1.00 to .85). Since it has been cooler out it has been running off and on lately. I'm happy to report it is running the quietest and smoothest I've ever heard it since moving in January '22.

Same guy is going to bring some machinery to the house in the Spring. Got to dig up the line going from the well to inside the house. It's old 1" galvanized and original to the house circa 1965. The plumbing going to the pressure tank is all wrong, so that'll be fixed too. Not sure if I'm going to replace the pump, but I'm definitely pulling new wire since the trench will be open. Not going to be a fun job, but needs done! :goingcrazy:

Other things that need done around here, let's see. The ladies like doing Christmas decorations, so I'm gonna say the heck with it and put up some lights and they can do their thing outside. Going to wire up a Holiday receptacle. I'll put an outlet in the soffit on it's own switched outlet to make it easy, no more plugging or unplugging them. Probably will wire up a timer.

Hope you guys have a good Monday! :hattip:
