Are the threads gone off the bolt or in the crank?

More than likely they are left handed, aren't they?

If it's the threads in the crank there isn't much hope unless you can get a longer bolt and catch some good threads. The crank is probably hard as a rock and won't be able to be tapped for a thread insert.

If it's the bolt threads, hopefully you can get a new one and roll on.

I got this mower for free, it owes me nothing. I just prefer the height of the handle as it's easier on my back.
That's my plan, new bolt and send it and see. But seeing this bolt makes me believe the crank isn't fully stripped that I could get some bite with a new stud.

Those small engine cranks are far softer then you think. If you have the proper tap you may be able to clean some of the threads up. There is a reason they bend quite easily and it's not because they are hardened.

That looks like a right hand thread, hopefully a new bolt will have you back up and running.

You are correct looking at the threads.

I HATE oddball stuff like that. [so do SOME dryer motor threads on the motor shaft pulley end and/or on the blower wheel side.]

That is if the crank isn't bent. I mean, you can replace a crank, but $$$. Now, if it was a Honda mower, yea I'd rip the engine apart for one of those.

I've straightened push mower cranks several times with a section of pipe over the years. No, they were not perfect but they ran for another 4-5 years. It also took way less effort then I thought it would.

You can’t see it bc y’all are focused on the new Big Red threader/groover but the boiler on the Left is still rigged up for gas/oil. Pretty easy to dial in.

Small rant, I pass about 6 convenience stores on my way to work. I get gas once or twice a week and will stop at any of them that is cheap.

After owning a store, customer service is what I want, since I'm giving you my money.

I stopped by a store a couple weeks ago and the owner lady was on the phone at 6:30 in the morning speaking to someone in another language. I could care less about that.

What bothered me was she never stopped talking to the person on the phone, never acknowledged me, never said a word to me. I paid for my drink, got to the door and turned back and said have a great day, you'll never see me again.

Her and her husband looked at buying our store but didn't. It's not like I'm a stranger to her.

This morning I stopped at another one cause my gas light was on, went in and got a drink. Dude never said a word to me. He rang my drink up, I said how are you? He said good. I said have a great day.

There is another store that is a little out of my way to get to but when I go in there, they always make it a point to say hey to whoever comes in the door.

I think I'll just give them my business from now on.
