I rode it for a few miles before we did paperwork during the trade.. haven't ridden it since I've gotten it home, though. Weather and 8 month old haven't cooperated on that front lol. Hopefully this afternoon I'll get out on it for a bit. With how neglected it's been on maintenance I'm trying to hold off on putting any serious miles on it until I can sort the backlog out and get in good shape fluid and adjustment-wise.

You might as well grease everything while your this far in. Swingarm bearings, linkage bearings, steering stem. You can buy a digital service manual for a decent price

Put 18 miles on at our harescramble course yesterday. Never sounds like a lot but busting laps is tiring.

The racebox worked alright. Think it's the litpro app that needs some work for harescrambles. It only kept 1 good lap and let me save a track, but it won't allow me to create custom tracks or apply another saved track to a session that it doesnt think I rode on it.

    This 100%

any new to me bike (even if brand new from the factory) gets every single pivot point taken apart, bearings greased liberally and steering stem properly torqued. Some are better than others, none of them have ever been properly greased.

Got out for a slightly chilly ride today... hit some minor logging roads with the little KTM. Love this bike.

Yeah, already bought it, about $34, then bought a ream of 3 hole punch paper to print it out and toss it into a notebook. Laser printers ftw. Things like 400 pages long.

    Ok..

Topped off coolant, checked oil, cleaned the chain, adjusted the tension (weirdest way to state the spec ever, I had to google what it meant.. rather than chain travel its distance from the swingarm), tire pressures (it was at 21/13 wtf), zip tied a plate on, and took it out for a romp for an hour or so.

VERY fun bike, but just about as different as could be from the s1000xr. Buttery inline 4 to a tractor single, all the electronics to just a speed and trip meter on the single line display, full fairings to naked.

Absolute hoot though. I’m looking forward to catching up on the maintenance and then digging into the power commander. I don’t think I love the tune on it. It had some weird spots in it. Also going to take some getting used to this quick shifter, got a few false neutrals out of it.

Oh, and hydraulic clutches are awesome.

Congrats on the 701! I've been itching to get back on a small CC supermoto - really the only place I don't enjoy the Super Tenere is the really tight backroads with narrow 1 lane in both direction, tight, technical stuff. I'm hoping KTM does come out with the 390SMC because I love the little thumper in my RC.

My wife and I took the Super Tenere for a little overnight trip. We started yesterday by going to get breakfast in SF before heading north on Highway 1 to Mendocino for dinner and Ft. Bragg for the night. This morning after coffee we rode farther up north on Highway 1 to Leggett to go to the Drive-Thru Tree Park before riding home on 101. Total mileage was close to 500 miles with some of the back and forth we did. Super Tenere ate it all up. Love the bike.

Our hotel/cottage had a little carport (which was the main reason I wanted to stay there!):

I just got the bike back. Just a few scratches, nothing broken. It held up well.

    Good to hear!

Im still figuring things out as to what 2nd bike I want. Heavily leaning towards a CRF250L Rally. We shall see what the selection looks like when Im actually ready to buy. At the same time, I kinda want to say screw it and get a Grom or something fun for commuting like a Triumph Scrambler 400. Grom actually wont work well, because I have to do 55+ for 20 min or so. My Z125 couldn't do 45. My thought process was those are more fun if a few people have them.

I havent been taking advantage of the rewards of paying off the AT yet. Soon Ill get the high mount exhaust ordered though. That bike is all function, and no form. And Ill need to order a new jacket in the spring. Going to get the MSR Xplorer jacket to match the pants that I already have (plus Im too poor to afford Mosko gear :anonymous:)

damn thats good it wasnt to bad on damage!
if you get a grom ill get one! but sadly im a bit far away from ya lol

the scrambler could be a lot of fun tbh! but whats the reason to want a crf250l over a 300l?

that section of highway 1 from just north of the golden gate to where it meets the 101 is by far some of the prettiest riding I have ever done.

Unpopular opinion but I think going south, Highway 1 is better. A lot of the riding between Golden Gate and Mendocino is inland in some fields or through some really small towns where you have to go slowly. There were a ton of cars and terrible drivers as well so I didn't really enjoy the first part of the trip. The ride between Mendocino and Leggett was amazing, though. Great views, barely any traffic and way better riding. I also like 101 down to about Santa Rosa because it's all fast, flowing turns with plenty of overtaking spots or two lanes.
