    Bought 2 big shackles today. Apparently they are 3/4" but they sure look a hell of a lot bigger than I thought they would be. I also received my 27,000 lb recover strap. :D

    Erik, why did you go with 27000 lb strap? Will your truck have the ability to stretch a strap that large? Won't this act more like a tow strap rather than a recovery strap because of its higher rating compared to your vehicles weight? I have no off road experience yet so am asking out of curiosity.

    I just thought bigger was better! haha. I see what you're saying though and never really though of that. I'm sure it will still stretch, just not as much. I've broken straps in the past and figured I might as well spend a little extra money even if it is overkill. I'm sure it will still give enough stretch to work properly. These things stretch surpisingly quite a bit.

    Yep! Love mine! Just take care of the strap and it'll last you years.
    Only thing is I think mine might be the 2"x30ft strap rather than the 3".

    Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to do so at Cleghorn this weekend :D

    Not yet. I wanna wheel it pretty hard and see if I need to cut more before I weld a plate back in there. Or maybe I'll just leave it like that.

    Got to use the winch/bumper to pull a stuck 4Runner up a hill. It worked great! My truck was sliding forward a little so I know there was a lot of strain on the bumper.

    Had to chop my cab mounts more and I also cut my pinch weld down almost all of the way - it didnt really split at all. I sprayed everything with rubberized undercoating after the pics. I also trimmed my fender more.

    Especk's, was u ever able to get any answers on the driveshaft noise and did u flip your driveshaft yet? When exactly do u hear the noise? I hear mine pretty much everytime a lift off the pedal when coasting and to tell you the truth, I don't mind the noise as long as it's not tearing anything up.

    I have not flipped it yet but I am still planning on doing it. I hear it when I let off the gas anytime going over about 50 mph. I wouldnt mind the noise either, but I have some feeling that it must be doing some sort of damage - at least over time. I am not exactly sure what is causing the noise and I dont think anyone really does. But apparently flipping the drive shaft eliminates this.

    I like the 305s because I like a wider tire. The 305s do require more trimming than the 285s. 305s with coilovers cranked all the way would work without removing fenders but you would have some rubbing while offroading most likely. If you want to run 305s, get a wheel with 4.5" backspacing. My wheels have 3.6" backspacing so that makes it rub on the fenders more.

    To be on the safe side, 285s are the way to go.

    I wonder if maybe changing the angle of the driveshaft with shims would help any? Mine seem to make the noise pretty much anytime after 2nd gear and up, when letting off gas.
