Same. But, I've noticed people who have worked all their life retire and lay around. They're dead within a year.

Grandfather on my dads side barbered up to 6 months of his death. Now, heard failure made him give it up, but he kept busy almost till the end.

Unfortunately a shitty attitude is the new norm, not sure when that happened but I dont like it.
I go to one of the rougher stores in town but they have the best fountain sodas in town, I know all of the people that work there, and they give me stuff. :)

@six5crèéd is there a Sheetz on your commute? Those are typically clean and the employees decent. I understand the whole supporting "local" places, but it seems they've burned their bridges.

Although, it's a local company for me. Headquartered 1.5hrs from here in Altoona, PA :anonymous:

I bought right before SHTF and it went up. It's a USDA 30 year, so there's mortgage insurance. Trying to figure out how to get rid of that as my property value went up $75,000 from what I paid for it o_O

I was there about 25 years ago. It’s gonna go faster than you think it will.

Remember to pay yourself with as much savings/investment as you can NOW. Let that compound interest/reinvestment time value of $$ work for you.

Employer is matching up to 8% on my 401K and then some. It's gaining pretty good.

When I started there was a pension plan, but they came out with a new 401K plan that actually netted me more money in the long run since I am young. The "old timers" kept with the old plan as it didn't make sense for them.

The auction I mentioned earlier is wrapping up around 650 bucks. Non running and just says “drive doesn’t work”. Not worth the gamble for me right now. I’m looking for a plow dump truck first

    Bummer.

That unit has the rebuildable pumps. Just a bunch of time and $60 to rebuild a pump.

    No worries.

    Happy hunting.

    In other news:

Got sucked into the side of the road junk vortex.

Spied this jewel on the way to do some shopping. Couldn't resist. Into the drive I veered.

It even has functional brass plug valves. I haven't seen those valves on these burners in some time.

    Looking forward rehabbing it.

    Standby...

Pretty sure I had a similar one once. Used it to melt down wheel weights back in the day. Simple & reliable.

I totally understand the whole customer service thing. A friend of mine was part owner of the gas station/store by my house for the 15 years. He had great customer service. People would make a point to stop in the mornings to grab coffee or something and to shoot the shit with him. Myself included. He recently sold out to his partner, and the whole atmosphere and community feeling disappeared. I would go in and pay just to say hi. Now I pay at the pump and leave.
Owners and employees can make a business thrive or die.

It's the ability to have to the time to do whatever you want though. It doesn't mean one has to melt into the couch. :ohsnap:
