Curious if you still think this is coming for 2025?

I want a compact body on frame truck that’s cheap. Kind of like what’s on sale in Thailand right now.

Toyota: we got you fam, we have a four-door bastardized SUV trucklet hybrid unibody thing coming! Because the Maverick was ridiculously successful for a few weeks during the ‘Rona.

If they would develop compact body on frame instead of unibody I’d be so much more happy for real

I really like it. I think when they first pitched it they were hoping to introduce different body modules and even having something like an FJ cruiser looking thing based off of it, but I think they scrapped all of it and are just planning on selling it as a truck.

In Southeast Asia where these are very similar to the Hilux, they ironically make less sense than in the US where midsize trucks have become expensive and bloated.

I would be very surprised if they did, Toyota fucked up and have way too many vehicles in their truck/suv lineup no one wants and it’s only going to take sales from the very suffering Tacoma. If they made it would be a unibody off the rav4 platform

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Regular cab on a 22’ long chassis with dual rear wheels. Thanks

2025? 100% No! Right now I'd say Toyota has no viable plans to build a unibody truck at all.

CAFE and EPA regs prevent this.

Even if the taxes weren't there, the truck is cheap elsewhere because it has not safety equipment that is mandated here. We also don't get Toyota diesels because of the emissions laws, and those are on California, not the feds.
