Doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless it's very downstream but I'll retrace my steps from the knock sensor install

Randomish, hypothetical, non-boost-related, mostly pointless curiosity question:

I recently learned about a TPMS implementation that compares individual wheel speeds to determine if a tire is underinflated. A single underinflated tire will rotate slightly faster on average than the other three properly-inflated tires due to its decreased diameter.

Could such a system be implemented in a Haltech?

Yeah, that's a common implementation in OEM situations. It could be implemented in Haltech as well using wheel speed compare conditional statements in a math channel. Haltech also sells a CANbus TPMS module as well that is rather cheap since not all Tacomas would have ABS sensors.

Having TPMS would be nice, but it's not conducive to wheeling...

I mean you can use it however you want. They have the ones that go on the valve stem or the ones that replace the valve stem. You don't have to just use it as a warning you could use a conditional statement to determine what regular behavior is and what turns on a light or warning

I meant that they're not conducive to wheeling as they'll get broken off. Not uncommon to rip out a valve stem and I could see one of the ones that sits inside of the wheel getting crushed when you're aired down and drive over the perfect rock at the right speed.

It would be pretty hard to break the ones that are inside the wheel, they're not centrally located. It's not a common failure for the second gens and those guys have had TPMS for a long time.

Did some tuning with @Speedytech7 last night and got some good logs at some higher boost levels. Getting it ready for the dyno here soon. Pretty happy with that boost curve and the ve table is almost spot on. Should make some good numbers at 14psi

Might want to get that transient looked at

Wasn't last night's goal, we have a few hours of Dyno time coming up, should be a good time to tackle little odds and ends like that though. Anytime something lasts for a couple msec it's going to be hard to chase down entirely without some steady load tuning.

The main goal has been to get the boost under control to eliminate spikes while keeping the response, and creating a very flat boost curve. Transient wasn't as much of a concern because the afr and load weren't in a bad place at that range, and I haven't looked over and smoothed the target lambda table yet. Map prediction also takes time to learn what it needs to do for situations like that, so we have to get the rest of the ve table dead on, and do some steady state tuning to get intricate little details like that more in line.

Wouldn't ripping out the valve stem lead to them just being loose in there? Any trail fix you'd have to leave it loose bouncing around in there.

Yes but they have some soft rubber short length stem versions now, although I would like to see a Honda band style one, probably the safest if biased internally toward the outside ridge...

These are pretty well crush proof and used by a few manufacturers now

That's cool. Haven't seen those before. Why is it so big? Takes up like 1/4 the dia of the wheel.

I think the OEM versions are also using the foam packs to zero balance their wheels, you should only need one pack for the TPMS device

interesting. Yea I could see balancing a sensor that big being difficult.

Decel fuel cut seems to not be happening for me now too, and I'm getting some weird real-time values that don't match the table iterpolation for RPM-based delay. Very strange. Sometimes it will "detect" but the fuel cut part never occurs. Possible update bug?

If you updated to the most current version then it is possible, I try not to update unless there's a feature I'm chasing after. There will always be bugs depending on what they've integrated and changed the maps or scaling for as well.

Yeah you can, just hit the upgrade button and choose an older version it'll automatically migrate the map although I recommend just loading your save from before the upgrade.
