Got drunk and went in the hot tub instead of hunting the afternoon. Fuck it , it’s 72*

 

Just like last week. 80 tomorrow.

 

And how many deer do you think you are going to see out of that stand after running chainsaws in there for two days? That couldn't have waited until after the season. And it's not the noise, it's all the scent you left in there.

 

I ran skid steer all around my property. Deer came in that night

 

Same as gut piles, we’ve seen deer poop within feet of them the next day while others say to not gut them in the woods.

 

I sat in the new stand one morning 2 days after the chainsaw events and had a yearling doe at 8 yards and another behind the stand at 30 yards. Was holding out for a mature buck or older doe. The deer on this property don't get a lot of pressure as we only bowhunt.

So I used to have a lot of time to deer hunt. I could hunt in my areas every day, and I killed a lot of deer, but rarely anything notable. Then I had to move, and can only hunt these areas selectively. Meaning the two weekends before gun season and opening day. I have put mounts on the wall since then, because I am not going in there and pushing all the does out of the area, and then I go in there and hunt the rut. Ample does equals bucks.

 

No hunting today . Near 80 degrees,it’s ridiculous. I have shorts on .I will head up the mountain in the AM . Going to Pennsylvania on Sunday to my friends house to see if I can knock one down there . Weather looks a bit warm next week also both places .

Saw 4 bucks and 2 does this afternoon, 73° and humid.





One of the bucks was a pretty good 8pt but he stayed in the thick shit.

 

I believe "El Nino" is the cause of our bizarre Fall Weather. Others will say no it's global Warming, but I say nope its El Nino, it's been around for decades, but it doesn't fit the narrative.

 

Yes but just sitting in a stand watching them is half the fun, or half the battle whichever way you want to look at it.
