Trying to get my switch panel to work only in ACC mode. Tried tapping into the Power Outlet fuse but it has power consistently. Can’t seem to find a fuse that works. Is it common to have to use the fuses inside the cab? I have a 2004 tacoma

Yes and no... IMHO it depends on the amperage you are expecting to draw. I have always powered up by aux panels via a switched power 50 AMP bosch relay. When you shut the truck off everything associated with that aux panel is dead, no battery drain if you forget or your brother drives the truck or, or...

You can use the clock. If it's simply the signal wire I'd consider one of the fuse add on things acceptable.

I run all of my 'aux' switches off relays independent of the OE wiring. I like to keep it separate and beefy.

Aux beam switch panels have a signal wire, like a stereo amp does. You're suppose to tie it into an ignition fuse or similar that comes on when the key is turned. That brings the switch panel and relay panel live. Relays are built into those, he's just talking about getting the system to turn on, which probably draws less than an amp.
