Made a short 2 axle gondola, basically copied LGB's design with a pivoting single axle, but with a twist of my own.

Finally got smart enough to make deck boards instead of a smooth surface. I should have done this with the first ones.

These are a hybrid of the pivoting two axle freight bolsters and the fixed single axle for the caboose and tender. All the current cars, past and present, with a pivot mount, can be run with either double or single axle on the ends now.:D

    They pull/push surprisingly well.

Being bored and about to go thru surgery, and then be house bound for several weeks, I pulled out a couple of the On30 stock. I'm using the RC tender power for the tracks, so this one is technically wireless and can be run from the comfort of the couch.

I'm starting to pick thru my stuff and set aside what I want to keep and the rest is to be sold off.

It can be but will depend on the conditions at the time of snowfall.
This track is on the North side, if the snow is light and fluffy it should be able to push it.
If it's wet and heavy, not happening. And if it freezes afterwards, it's done for the season.
:notsure: I just had an operation and am restricted on activity. But we never know.

Crane car project. Heavily based on a LGB design. :anonymous:

Another Ebay score. Thing was covered in dust and some sticky substance, gross. It cleaned up great though and runs smooth. This one seems hard to find but also not in demand. There are 4 different paint schemes of this engine, the others seem to get a higher price.

Status update on the crane train. Going way faster than I anticipated.
So far all 3d printed with no CA glue to hold together, everything snap or press fits together.

The silver plate will snap into place on the flatcar which has yet to be printed and let the crane swing around.

Made a new tender and wired the Shorty. This engine was as basic as it gets, there was a slot for the "on-off" switch, but nothing there. Opening it up showed that it came that way with no cut wires. It's either getting current or it ain't. So I used the slot to feed my JST wire in and soldered that to the track pickups for the motor. Then printed the mount for the connector so it had something solid to plug/unplug with. It just sits on the floor and is a light snap fit in place.

I shortened this tender by 25mm, because Shorty, but otherwise kept the same design as the Stainz tender.

Shorty's a wood burner. Ordered some dark red filament and might redo the shell in red instead of the silver section. Maybe upper and lower red stripes to frame out any future lettering.

I definitely have the time, just no desire for flying anymore. It's getting hard to find areas for that particular hobby and since the FAA stuck it's nose in it, it just lost the attraction for me.
I have several 500-600 class 3D capable helicopters that have been collecting dust. The receivers for the train project have been stolen from a few of them.

Much happier with this shade of red and how it turned out. Also made the small gondola. The gondola base was originally the base for the Stainz tender. I redid it after the Shorty tender, which was designed to use up the extra Aristo Craft couplers that have no home on freight cars. It worked out so well, I made a new one for the Stainz and not wanting to let the base go to scrap, printed up the red sides blah blah blah and I think it turned out cute as hell.

I now have more freight cars than wheels and have been pulling them from other cars. I found a deal on a case of NIB wheels, 24 axles. This has gotten way out of control.:anonymous:

1-3600kv BL motor, on 3S. That's 39,600rpm at full voltage.
1-plastic prop from childs science kit.
    1-antique park flyer receiver
1-unknown brand of ESC, seemed to take full tilt 3S with no visible smoke.
    1-Pilot
The blue motor will not be used.

Motor mount and shroud. The yellow prop provided way more thrust.

Pre-test mock-up of where everything will sit

Half throttle sends it off the curves. Now to refine it. :D
Will most likely make a sectional mount for the components/battery, maybe add wings, some turbo tubes to run some of the wiring thru. It won't be fully enclosed, just secure and serviceable.
