This is pretty much what I told him I wanted but the discussion took place ~8 years ago so don't know if it was an option then. May look into it. "Gently transform ... into a nutrient-rich soil."

I am going to look into the legality of being dipped in resin and set in a chair in front of the local train station. With a smile on my face, of course.

Came across this marker on the top of Floodwood Mountain near Saranac Lake, NY while on a hike with my son and and his Boy Scout troop a while back.

Bootied these Sx42 ski boots from the late 80s or early 90s? Found sitting upright next to one of the biggest blocks of a moraine in the Sawtooth range (Mono County, CA).

My wife is annoyed that they’re now in my garage!

Not exactly unexpected but we found some relics from WWII in American Samoa -- a couple guns and a pillbox.

"American Samoa was touched by enemy fire only once. On January 11, 1942, the Naval Station was shelled by a Japanese submarine. One shell, an odd stroke of irony, struck the home and store of one of the very few Japanese residents of the island. Another struck the Navy Dispensary, doing only minor damage, but most of the shells landed in the bay."

For sure. It's pretty remote now, I can't imagine how remote it was there in the 40's.

This just makes me think of all the 'monuments' on Everest, like Green Boots.

Those boots are from around 1985. I had a pair like that. Best boot I ever owned. Comfortable, adjustable, and easy to put on. I did catch a bunch of shit from my fellow ski instructors because they weren't cool front buckle boots. But, when they're just a pair of work boots comfort and ease of use wins over cool every time.

I seem to remember that they "relocated" Green Boots. I know they were giving a bunch of the dead mountain burials over the side.

Not sure, saw an article about all the 'landmarks' along the climb. Really sad stories.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Drove past this spot hundreds of times over the years before I spotted it. No backstory beyond that this trail was established long before I was bornt and it's located just before a rocky corner headed uphill. Private land.
