    Ordered a gallon of Woolwax
Hard-On to use on the shackle flip and hidden receiver.

Says it's odorless and doesn't mention humidity for application, just temperature.
So I'll brush it on down in the basement.

Humidity maters as it is water based and must dry. It is also not UV resistant and must be top coated. This is what I used as a base on the flat bed. turns rock hard so clean up well or live with it. Love it. Is not non odor despite what they say. Sprays well with an under coat gun

    Thanks for the notes.
I was hoping you'd chime in. I was going to rattle can the fr's then I remembered you used it on the flatbed.
Those parts seem as good a place as any to use Hard-on or Steel-it but Steel-it is out of my price range for coatings.

It will be fine for the application. Will take several days to get "hard" for topcoat. Don't let it get wet for a couple days and I would try and keep it closer to 60 degrees than 50. Make sore to use a Scotchbrite course pad (red) or like 150 grit to scuff it up for topcoat or it just won't stick. I had a lot of trouble getting rattle can paint to stay on. When I used catalyzed urethane I sanded with 150 grit and sprayed right over it-sin! Looks fine for what I do and it has so far stayed on.

I was going to tap the amber chase lights right into the fog circuit to come on with the factory column switch.

A coworker (who plows snow in the winter) tells me you can't have amber lights facing backwards on the street, so I guess I'll wire them separately.

An FYI for anyone else not in the know.

time for more bad finnancial advice, time to replace my tires. I also want more of an offset. I'm not displeased with Ko2s 2nd gen, but I am curious about other options. I haven't had issues with noise or handaling, but them on at 5 years ago just before 44k miles and have put close to 70k on them. They are showing dry rot also.
currently on 265/75/r16 and want to stay with the r16 but am interested in going to 285. Also have 2"/1.5 blocks as of now.

tires are used in the city a bit, but my primary driving is state highways and the driftless area hills frequently in the winter and often before they get plowed. I would like to keep the aggressive look, but don't think I want a mud tire. recs? bonus points for pics of offsets but I'll be going to the other forms to also do some searching.

I will get beat on a bit maybe, but I recommend Kenda. More specifically the Klever. I ram KM3's for years and am a fan of BF Goodrich; however, the KM2's get nothing but bad lip service. I went with these on a recommendation from a fellow TW driver and I will never go anywhere else. They rock. Best snow tire I have had in years. Do everything well to above average. No tire does it all well, but for looks and performance based on what you say how they will used I think you should consider them.

how are they during the summer or in wet conditions and at speed?

I'm not going to hate on them I am genuinley curious. I actually run kenda tires on my old mountain bike, new one came with maxxis and that will probably just be direct replacements. I also got to drive around on my friends truck maxxis a bit too.

Coming from KM3's they are not as good in mud-to be expected. Drive on dry fantastic and are the quietest offroad tire I have ever owned. I have never felt in the edge running them on pavement in the wet. My truck is unique in that I have a pretty even 50-50 weight distribution so can't say how they feel on a light bed, but they are simply fantastic on wet roads in my opinion. Way better confidence wise than the old KM's made me feel. Never have they felt like they were on edge. They have been spun up to 90mph (down hill with a tailwind) and seem fine. That wasn't something I was worrying about, so says a lot.

Yep, running 285s on 16s now. BTW, offset comes from wheels more than tires. I wasn't going for more poke, but the aggressive side biters do stick out a bit. I picked up new Mickey Thompson wheels as well. 0 offset. I have a 2.5"-ish lift and get just slight rubbing on the mudflaps up front at the right turn and compression.

I agree with Pat. Kenda Klever RT's FTW. Have had them in 33s, 35s, and now 37s. Most people overlook them because it's not a big name tire with a lage social media following.
