I wonder why nobody says anything about the local veal farm.
I assume it's because they don't know what it is. I guess the baby cows are just living a life of luxury with a personal shelter, eating grain, at the end of 6 feet of rope.

Gotta love it when the people of Denver think they know more about herd and wildlife management than CPW.......

Did some scouting the last few days for 1st rifle, seemed like a ghost town out there. Didn't hear or see shit. Few guys I talked to said archery was similar. No bugles, nothing. Those of you out for archery have a similar experience?

I am in the Colorado Springs area and new to hunting, anyone know of any places worthwhile for hunting small game (mainly rabbits). Definitely want to branch out and explore different hunts (deer, elk, etc.) so anything on those would be great too.

CoMo Taco, first if you're new to hunting you'll first need to take a hunters safety course and then you can buy a small game hunting license. Then you can look up WIHA lands, a lot of which is in eastern Colo. You should be able to find some rabbits on the WIHA, Walk In Hunting Area.
As far as big game goes, again, you'll be required to have a hunters safety card to even apply for any big game hunting. There are some OTC, Over the Counter, tags available for elk, but pretty much every other big game is through a draw which is done each spring.

You can contact the Wildlife Division in Denver and they may be able to direct you to a place to get the hunters safety done. I'd think you could find some where local to you.

Anyone going to be hunting unit 54 2nd season? My buddy and I have elk / muley tags and would be more than willing to share or bounce information off each other. Feel free to PM

Have you shot for that unit before? Curious the ease of draw. I haven't hunted there before or planned to, just curious

I haven’t put in for a tag in that unit before. I have an OTC elk tag and my buddy has OTC elk and buck muley. I’d have to ask him but I think he burned 1 pt.

Ah I didn't look if it was a draw unit for elk ha I misread you having a tag as drawing.
    Good luck!

No luck for 2nd season elk this year. Even had an opportunity to hunt some private that a buddy of mine has harvested each time he's gone. This might be the reason the woods seemed empty:
