My chariot for the next few weeks. I've got Maple, Catalpa, Sassafras, Cherry, Pine, Walnut, and Oak trees to clean up after. I usually have 30-40 loads before I'm done in early December.

If they get too deep to drive over with the Scag, I use Echo backpack blow to windrow them and then use my JD lawn tractor to pull the vac. Stop and suck up the piles without running them through the mower deck.

That "thing" on the seat is an inner tube air ride :D.

    Those Catalpa trees are nasty!

Wife wanted to plant one along the drive. I said Nope.

Like that rail road merger that claimed they had 2 day delivery:

Morning y'all. We now have a 20' wand for the 20' PVC pipe. Hand made out of the pile looks like it's werken fine.
Oh yeah something not new I'm heading to the pressure washing line again.o_O:rofl:

I'm not sure if it's the same crank shaft or not.

Here is cylinder #2, it’s a little moist but not bad.

    upload_2024-11-7_9-13-51.jpg

I took it off when I got home Tuesday and was going to see if I could get it done in 45 minutes. I got it apart and heard a car, some friends dropped by so I stopped to talk to them.

For those that don’t know, while I was talking with them my mom called and said my dad was in an ambulance unresponsive. I spent Tuesday night and some of yesterday at the hospital.

He is doing okay, he had a pulmonary embolism and we didn’t think he was going to make it. He’s awake now and they did some test and he has clots in his leg and still in ICU.

I brought the cap with me and got it rebuilt this morning.

    upload_2024-11-7_9-16-52.jpg

My 45 minute goal has turned in to 2 days and counting. That is okay.

Yeah, the bad thing is the Catalpa leaves are so wide they want to pile up in front of the mower deck, or if I go without the mower deck mulching, they clog the chute if I try to take them directly into the agri-fab.

They definitely look nice in the Summer. The worms are great catfish bait too. Had a friend who came every Summer until he passed away. Throat cancer: if any of you are smokers, quit. Your friends will thank you for it.

Looking like they bought 3 new pressure washers and 2 new tote bins today. Looks like they are going to set up another station. Guess I will find out Monday.

Customer asked me take a look at this back pack blower.

Spark, but no joy. Carb is pushing fuel, but she won't fire.

I'm not getting anything past the muffler, so I'm thinking a plugged exhaust. Of course the owner tried to remove the muffler and stripped out one of the T-25 bolts with his skrench.

In order to remove the exhaust, it will most likely have to be destroyed.

Those combination spark plugs wrench/torx drivers are not heat treated. They will deform on a stubborn fastener.

I'm gonna put this in the corner until next week. I have a bore scope showing up Tuesday. This will be a good 1st use for this blower. No sense in putting time into it find out it needs a new upper end.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I picked up an old "doesn't run" Bob Cat 48 inch walk behind mower on wed. Craigslist offering, about 45 minutes drive.
The deck on my even older 54 inch "Mighty-Vac" walk behind is rusting out. The Mighty-Vac is also getting a bit unwieldy with it's width as I age and the gardens close in on the lawn. I figured $200 wasn't a lot to risk, and get so many interchangable parts if it really "doesn't run".

The 48 inch width mower is a glove fit on a Taco full length bed. Like they were made for one another!

First thing I did was hose off all the "sitting around grime", top and grassy bottom.
Dried off with compressed air, the spark plug was pulled for a look see. (the engine has good compression by test of the pull cord). A bit dark, but it SPARKED! ;-)
Dropped the carb bowl. YUCKKKKKK! stanky! Gross.. But a mirror showed the main jet passage clean and bright. Go Figure.
Someone prior had put on new fuel lines and a filter, But I couldn't get gas to flow through the float needle no matter how I jiggled the float. Pulled the plastic fuel tank and sloshed the little bit of rank gas around , then dumped it all into the "solvent can".
Put all the fuel and engine stuff back together and filled the fuel tank about 2/3ds.
Opened the petcock, opened the float bowl drain and ran a few tablespoons of fresh gas into a catch can. Gave a short squirt of fuel into the carb inlet, Turned the key to RUN, and gave a pull.

Can't tell you how surprised I was when the engine started before the pull cord was all the way out! The engine RAN! for about the count of three.

repeat the fuel in the carb throat a couple of times, the engine running longer each start up, until it would run along fine just nursing the choke. Then, It just ran, and engine revs followed the throttle position. Heavens be, "Doesn't run " Is a passing thing!
The mower has seen some long usage! There were more bent nails replacing lost hairpin clips than I've ever seen on any piece of equipment. And most of the pivot holes on any control was well worn.

I pulled off all the blades and gave them a keen edge, replaced the bent nails with proper pins and clips. Adjusted drive belts etc, and gave it a spin. The mower works just fine! And it is so demur.
Smooth and less harsh in sound and feel than the Mighty-Vac.
    I like it!

The front castor wheel spindle bushings are worn till they wore through. Yet there is grease everywhere. It appears that they may be the same as the Ex-mark pieces, and there is a dealer not far away. The Bob Cat dealer closed doors a year or so back. On line they are offered in 10 piece packs for $41. and even Oregon sells the bushings aftermarket.

    Looks like a keeper!

Now to get rid of the Mighty-Vac....;-)

No access to the bolt head as it's recessed in the muffler.

I may try drilling the head of the bolt off with a drill bit.

Regardless, I'm thinking this unit gonna be a stubborn prick.

Owner doesn't want to sink a bunch of money in it, so I may just end up with a new project for myself.
