After running BFG A/T's the last 40 years it was time to try something different... went with 275/70/17 Toyo R/T Trail. Wanted to fill wheel wells a bit more/ more width/ but not large enough to require cmc, power loss, regear, etc. Had to do some minor plastic trmming/mud flap modification.

So far so good. The first few days of having them it rained and rained and rained, lol. They are better with wet pavement no questioning that.

Regards to road noise ahhh I really couldn't say truck has TRD exhaust and to be honest that is quite noisy, but when rolling not on the pedal very similar to KO2s. Not that bad as long as you are adamant on rotations every oil change maybe even before oil. And with these new oil interval changes maybe even more. I usually do it every 8000 km as I have been riding BFG KOs & KO2s for many years and probably close to half a million kilometers.

This past weekend we burned a couple tanks of fuel on the highway and no real change in fuel consumption either. yes it less km per tank then those factory goodyears but not much and every trip depends on how hard a drive it. So fuel consumption is with the beholder of the pedal, every time, lol and it is a truck, its gonna burn fuel.

The outside is a little more aggressive, the inner tread nice and tight similar to the KO2s with a little change. So should make a good every day tire as I have always used them. Snow will soon come and she how they behave then, but i am expecting a decent usable winter tire as before with the Ko2s. Not the best winter tire, but hey they are not winter tires, if you want winter tires ya best buy winter tires. I ride the BFG's cause i dont want to shag with that, i just want a tire that i can out on, rotate a lot and mile them out. BFG have always been good for that to me.

The shop left them at 35psi when installed which i have recently dropped a couple psi. This is always a tricky setting. opinions vary, but if i am not towing i dont see the need. I find the 32 mark has been a sweet spot for me. from my experience running higher pressure if not towing leads to fast tire wear.

Gezz that was a lot lol. hope it provides some useful feedback for ya

Any complaints with the E rated ATIIIs? I’m looking to switch to them soon.

Interested to see how that goes. Sadly the biggest downfall with the Toyo LTs is the wet traction and that’s exactly what you mentioned as well. Which is the biggest thing to keep me from getting them. However I may still do it anyways, I’m not sure. The SLs just wear out too quickly for me.

The G3s are somewhat appealing, though I lean more towards Toyo usually. Curious if they do end up working better in the wet.

Don’t get me wrong the AT3s are very nice looking, performed well except in rain.. that’s why I waited for the Nitto G3s to see how promising the wet conditions improved for this tire.. remember Nitto & Toyo are sister brands.. so do what’s best for you
