This is my first real truck...albeit, smaller bed size end of the spectrum and nothing like the Full-Size bed. lol

It worked fine for the two-times I needed to maximize the bed.

I suppose finding garage space when not being used will be a challenge.

Installed new Pro suspension and replaced old needle bearing with new bushing from East Coast Gear Supply. Since I had the entire front end apart now was the time to install the new bushing.

Installed the Borla high clearance Y pipe this evening with the help of a friend. Install wasn’t too terrible. Instructions said the heat shield hardware was included. It was not, no big deal found a couple bolts and moved past the issue. Fluid film appointment Monday.

Did you follow the instructions and remove the driver side cat from the truck the cut it or hack it while on the truck?

Pulled the cat out to cut it. Directions didn’t mention it, but there is a metal loop around the cat that unbolts with 2 bolts. Remove that loop and it comes out pretty easy. Would be a pain to cut in the truck.

    This and that
I’ve had a Diamondback, smartcap, decked, snugtop, and now a bed rack(victory 4x4), with a roll up access cover. The db is a really nice cover, I would get a smooth one and just the se not the hd if I did it again. Also you can replace the front strut with longer ones and it will open 90 degrees, you have to disable a safety mech that is not a big deal.

I opted to stay with the standard front strut. I’ve got the Cross Bin 13 and it takes up most of the space under the front panel.

    LOL!

I actually want to take it apart and install this expensive/over-the-top contraption that does not add more power. lol

Plus, it will give me a chance to inspect areas I wouldn't normally see.

Nothing was wrong with the plugs, but this change was performed as per the Toyota recommended service intervals.

    Best regards,

    More maintenance.

I haven't coated my exhaust in over 2 years. It was time for a quick cleanup and a good enough paint job.
    IMG_20241109_114030425.jpg

Can't believe this stuff was $16. Last can of this I had was $8.99. Where are analysts coming up with inflation rates of 18-22%.. seems like many goods and services are almost double.

Anyway... $15 is still cheap maintenance.

My guess is it was the shortest (ie least expensive) route that met the criteria the engineers were given. It is in the middle and higher than the rear diff (half inch higher on my 2022 OR) so that was probably seen as acceptable. Of course when going over things that doesn't keep it from getting bashed especially since itnisn't between the tires but 99.999% of tacomas probably never see such use. There is also the matter of lining the lengths of the two sides up for performance and efficiency as it does actually have an effect. I really need to upgrade my Y pipe.
