Got Rust Check dripless clear gel (similar to Fluid Film but isn't smelly) sprayed under the 4Runner at a local shop: https://rustcheckauto.com/

The not smelly description makes me wonder if its a corrosion free knock off. We are well past any patent expiry now ("since 1995").

Unfortunately the only shops in my area spraying Corrosion Free are Canadian Tire service centers. I got it done at my local CT last year and the workmanship was commensurate with the low price they charged - front 1/3rd of the vehicle got no coverage. Service quality at the Rust Check shop was night and day different.

Performance of Corrosion Free 3000 vs. Rust Check is similar:

Rust Check comes in 350g cans, so Corrosion Free 3000 rattlecan is cheaper per gram if you have a Peavey Mart nearby.

I have Krown do my truck yearly as they offer a lifetime warranty on any body panel/frame if you bring the vehicle to them brand new (within 1st year of ownership). This is of course contingent on you bringing the truck in yearly for a spray, but yeah. My dad had his 03 super duty done from day 1 and when the cab corners/rockers finally let go in 2014, they took it to a body shop and had brand new rockers and corners welded in to factory OEM spec, and repainted the cab. Looked like brand new. Bill was 4 grand, krown covered the whole thing.

Picked up some 3+ litre cans of Fluid Film from Princess last fall on sale. Can’t remember what I paid but it was pretty cheap. Pretty sure the stuff has some shelf life.

In the spring Peavy has CF3k on sale for 6.99 a can. I bought a whole case. Way cheaper than. Buying the gallons, Used 6 cans with a very liberal application. Normally a seasonal touch up is 2-3cans

I'll check out that vid. But my 20yr experience with CF3k has been good. Nice that it's non toxic when your the greased up guy after finishing the job.

I just wanted to minimize crawling under the 4Runner, so I got it done at a shop. :D

If I were DIY'ing this I'd use CRC Marine (cosmoline), like I had been doing in past years with my Tacoma, blows the other coatings away in terms of durability, and doesn't attract dirt.

I plan on adding a product like that in the mix mainly for the more water washed parts in and around the wheels.

Modified a Tacoma tinfoil engine skid to replace the rusted one on the 4Runner:

Disclaimer for newbies: My 4Runner is a 401 crawler that may see snow and the occasional road debris (wood pallet, Hino truck grille, tire carcass, paving stone...). Don't follow my example if you're building a rig for moderate trails like Ardbeg, etc.

Same here...your 2nd gen Al is still rockin'. So are your rims and tires. I still have your UCA in a box downstairs. Your Headlamp bulbs still in the box. Your battery in the Rav4.

I know I'm missing something. Nothing ever gives up on this buggy...except the BSM. And my AC at the moment.

By your history of 401'ing you should be armouring your ass end instead yo

Working in an arena I think my employer might get upset if I put down salt in the workplace.
