Hey guys like mentioned, getting horrible gas mileage lately. Truck does have 2” lift, bumpers, sliders, winch and 32” AT’s.

I maintain the truck pretty meticulously. Plugs were replaced last year, throttle body and MAF cleaned a week ago. Still running original coils, everything I’ve read says to run till you throw a code.

My commute to work is 15 miles one way highway driving at 80 MPH. We did have some heavy winds last week but thinking something else is up.

Kind of at a loss here.

With the mods you have and driving 80 mph that's pretty dang good mpg.

My truck is stock and drving at that kinda speed it won't do much better than 15.

Well everything you listed tells us why you are only getting 14 mpg.

I had a buddy, has a stock 24’ Sport just like mine. Said he was only getting 17 mpg average, I told him I was averaging 20 mph. He said he drives highway to home and work 85 mph. I told him to set the cruise control for 70 on the way home, he said he got 23.6 mpg for that trip home.

Now add up all those things up you listed and I can see why you are only getting 14 mpg.

Sounds about right to me for the mods you listed.

You say you’re getting horrible mpg “lately”. What mpg were you getting before “lately”? What changed from when you were getting better mpg til your mpg changed??? And as others have said driving 85 mph with your mods, what kind of mpg do you expect? And lastly it’s a truck, trucks aren’t known for Prius like mpg.

Try 65. Check you odometer for accuracy against a GPS or highway mile posts.
17-18 may be possible with corrections to your true distance traveled divided by gallons to fill.

With those tires if your speedometer says 70, you're actually doing 75. Try driving 65 or less. You'll actually be doing about 70. If your speedometer said you were doing 80 before you were doing 85+.

Trucks, any truck, will do MUCH better if you keep it UNDER 70. At 70 mph it's like hitting a wall on fuel mileage.

I’ve had this truck for 10 years, i’m aware of the poor mileage. I did recently change jobs from in town to 15 miles on the highway one way commute. The interstate speed limit is 80 mph here in rural Utah.

I’m thinking the change in driving route, speed etc is highlighting the poor mpg as before it was a mix of slower city driving and highway driving.

Yep. I have 285s and if I stay at 70-75 hwy I can get 18-20 depending on the wind. Once I hit 80 it’s 14/15mpg.

80+ is where mine starts really tanking mpg-wise also, up to 75 I can get 20+ mpg (also depending on the wind) pretty routinely but not on cruise if it's hilly, my CC trashes the mileage at those speeds with downshifts. I pump up the tires to 35psi also if I'm driving a long distance. 4L, 265s, a topper and a 2" lift. No heavy bumpers though. Reason I'm still running 265/16s is I didn't want to kill the trucks mileage which I've done before with tires.

I can get 22-23 mpg if I keep it at 2,000 rpm or below on a long trip. This translates to about 70 mph. Ease it up to 75 and it's 17-19. The best I have ever seen was 24 mpg on a long interstate trip with the cruise set to 68-69 mph. (+ - 2,000 rpm)
