Rust is quite time consuming to repair, lots of cutting, welding, and grinding.

The car is $3,500 and Amanda can’t afford it now, but it’s lower than what she is willing to spend. The current owner of the Lexus is willing to hold onto it until Amanda has the money!

I thought you were referring to Spencer’s Lexus and not one you found, but after seeing that, we are gonna try to talk him down. Either that, or we will see if he’s willing to get the timing belt and exhaust done in exchange for us paying him exactly what he paid for it. He paid $4,000 for the car, spent $700 on new brakes, and used his own OBD scanner to clear some codes. The car has an exhaust leak, but I found a 2002 LS430 exhaust for $125. The car presently has no CEL or other warning lights. It runs and drives great.

Aside from the rust, the power mirrors and tilt/telescoping steering column do not work. The rear speakers also do not work, the front passenger door does not lock or unlock on its own. The A/C, heat, and heated seats all work great! The cruise control also works! The car has a clean title and the Carfax shows no accidents, but I suspect it was in a minor fender-bender because the front bumper is deformed a little bit.

Still worth a check to see when the belt was last replaced. That could be an unexpected expensive maintainance item. But car looks nice.

I’m trying to talk her into an ES300 or an RX300; I wish that I would have started dating her years ago because my grandma had a 2002 RX300 Coach Edition with 86K miles that she sold for five grand!

That would of been a steal! And a beautiful ride.

Yeah, but my grandma’s Lexus was purchased new in Florida, and as such was optioned for Florida…

It did have all-wheel drive or heated seats. My grandma knew she wanted an RX300, but chose that specific one because it was a Coach Edition and she loves Coach products. She owned a house in Florida at the time, but the Lexus spent most of its time in Maine and Pennsylvania, thankfully garaged so it was pretty much rust-free. It also didn’t have the Mark Levinson sound system. When it was new, I thought the stereo was halfway decent. It had both a cassette player, which I would plug my iPod into in later years, and 6-CD changer. However, after years of driving my Tacoma that had no expense spared on the stereo, I thought the factory system in the Lexus was pretty lackluster. In order to install a stereo with Bluetooth and a backup camera, just the dash bezel for a 1999-2003 Lexus RX300 was $600 at the time! By comparison, the one for my truck is like forty bucks!

My dad’s friend, who lives in Kentucky, bought my Grandma’s Lexus in late 2019. It still resides there in excellent condition, with barely over 100K on the clock!

1979 Tercel SR5; I find it rather odd seeing the SR5 nameplate on something that isn’t a pickup truck or a T4R! I spotted this car while out delivering UPS packages, saved the nearest address, and went back after my shift to get a closer look! Considering that some lower-end vehicles had 4-speed transmissions standard well into the 1990s, a 5-speed in 1979 is quite impressive. However, this is one of the most no-frills Toyotas that I’ve seen, even by 1970s standards. It has an AM radio and no A/C, plus it’s black. I understand that not everybody could afford A/C, but why would paint a car without A/C the color that attracts the most heat?!?! Regardless of the lack of creature comforts, this is still one sweet ride! It is immaculate considering that it’s PA (possible it’s from California or something), and it supposedly has less than 60K original miles!

No idea, but probably more than a 45 year old Toyota with no A/C is worth…
